Coronation Street fans are in for another dramatic week on the famous ITV cobbles when Leanne Battersby (played by Jane Danson) finds herself falling for a hunky newcomer.
Over the past few weeks, viewers have watched her lock horns with her partner Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) after they took in Simon Barlow (Alex Bain). The stud has slowly been spiralling out of control after his dad Peter left the street.
It didn’t take long before he started following in his absent father’s footsteps and turned to drink to help soothe his woes. Most recently, the soaps favourite took a turn for the worse when he lost control of his car after having one too many drinks before getting behind the wheel.

But he wasn’t the only one involved in the crash, as Nick’s son Sam (Jude Riordan) stumbled out of the wreckage behind him. Thankfully, the youngster was unharmed but Simon’s downward spiral has certainly caused a rift between Nick and Leanne.
Last month, it appeared as though their relationship had taken a turn for the better when Leanne got down on one knee and popped the question to Nick out of the blue. Utterly surprised by the proposal, Nick finally agreed but it’s clear to see that he is unsure about them taking their relationship to the next level.
And it appears as though Leanne’s eye may start to wonder this week when she seeks the advice of a self-help guru. At the start of the week, Simon tells Nick and Leanne that he’s prepared for whatever punishment the magistrates throw at him following his drunken car crash.
Young Sam agrees to write a character reference for Simon to help lessen his sentence. As Leanne and Simon get ready to leave for court, Nick makes out that he’s far too busy to go with them. It’s fair to say Leanne was thoroughly disappointed in him as she shoots him a filthy look as they leave the house.
At the end of the week, Leanne tells Debbie that she’s taking Simon to The Institute seminar at the Chariot Square Hotel. Debbie suggests she take Nick along too so they can check out the wedding fayre.
Feeling under pressure, Nick reluctantly agrees to tag along too but he quickly finds a way to escape the excitement halfway through. It’s at this point that Leanne bumps into Rowan (Emeryhs Cooper) from The Institute and gives her the benefit of his advice.
Leanne’s taken aback by his wife advice and encourages her to share her innermost thoughts and feelings with him. As he gets up to leave, he flashes her a smile and Leanne finds herself blushing.
Viewers will have to stay tuned to see if Leanne will fall for Rowan’s charms and have an affair with the charming newcomer or whether she will stay faithful to her husband-to-be.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.
