A real-life Corrie couple have reportedly called it quits.
Elle Mulvaney and co-star beau Liam Scholes are said to have split after two years of romance. The Corrie sweethearts, both aged 21, have reportedly ended their relationship, leaving pals and family members “shocked”.
Elle, who has portrayed Amy Barlow on the iconic soap since 2010, and Liam, who briefly appeared as Eli Higginson in 2021, seemed utterly smitten during their time together, even sharing a cosy Christmas snap last year.
But now, it seems the love story is over, with insiders claiming the split has come as a bolt from the blue. “Elle and Liam were loves young dream and did everything together,” an insider told The Sun. “Their split has really shocked their co-stars and family and no one knows exactly what happened.”

The source added: “It was all very sudden and they have both made it clear to pals it would take a miracle for them to get back together again,” Previously, Elle had been vocal about her affection for Liam, praising his understanding of the demanding nature of their acting careers in a chat with OK! Magazine in March this year.
She said: “He’s been brilliant… because he’s an actor as well he knows what it entails.” He’s coped with his fair share of backlash in the past when he played Eli in Corrie. He’s always really supportive and if I’ve had a bad day he’ll say, ‘Let’s go for a Chinese..” When asked if it was true love, she replied: “Yes! It’s going well, it’s going very well.”
They recently celebrated Liam’s 21st birthday together as they headed on a city break to Amsterdam. Posting a photo to Instagram, which showed the pair smiling for the camera as they lay among giant teddy bears, Liam said: “Thankyou so much for the birthday wishes everyone. Turning 21 with best people around me! To my friends, my aunties, my uncles, my cousins my grandparents, thank you for everything you’ve done for me over the past few years, I wouldn’t be the person I am today without any of you ! Now let’s enjoy the Dam.”
Elle and Liam got together just months after the actress split from her ex-boyfriend Euan after 18 months of dating. Liam took part in a controversial hate crime storyline during his time on Coronation Street as his character helped evil Corey Brent cover up the murder of Seb Franklin.
He has since starred in Waterloo Road and the actor is also in a Manchester indie band called The Lanks. Liam has been gracing the big and small screens since his childhood, scoring roles in Butterfly, Peaky Blinders and the short film Inertia. Elle embarked on her acting journey at just seven years old, joining the Corrie cast in 2010.
She previously admitted that came out of her audition thoroughly convinced she’d messed it up it completely. In a candid chat with Inside Soap magazine, Elle confessed: “I remember doing the audition and worrying that the other person was going to get the part. My cardigan was buttoned up wrong, and I had beans down my top. I even said my line wrong! ” She’s made quite an impression since then, landing consecutive nominations for “Best Young Actor” at the Inside Soap Awards. Daily Star has reached out to Elle’s representatives for further comments.
