Corrie buffs were left fearing the worst for Bernie Winter after bad boy Kit Green, played by Jacob Roberts, dropped a bombshell in the latest drama to hit the streets of Weatherfield.
Bernie’s long-lost son, who she had given up for adoption years ago, has surfaced as a shady detective with little interest in making nice with his siblings Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) and Paul (Peter Ash).
Despite being estranged from his brood during his formative years, Kit’s reunion with his family lacks any genuine warmth.
On Wednesday (August 14), viewers witnessed an emotional moment when Kit visited his brother Paul, who is battling motor neurone disease (MND), prompting a dramatic heart-to-heart dialogue.
Using his Eyegaze machine, a determined Paul beseeched Kit: “I need you to forgive Mum, properly.”
He went on to plead: “I know she hurt you, she was a mess back then more than she is now. She loves you, she wants your forgiveness. We all want that.”
Confronting his turmoil, Kit responded honestly: “I’m not going to sugarcoat this because of this situation. Ever since she didn’t turn up that day I have been angry.”
Throwing light on his resentment, he confessed: “Like really angry but then I met you guys and I wanted you to hate her for what she did, so I focused on the worst things. I tried to make it as hard as possible for her.”
Finally, in a candid moment, Kit disclosed his true feelings about reconciling with Bernie in six chilling words: “The truth is Paul… I’m not always a nice person.”
The tension escalated when Paul suddenly began to struggle with his breathing, reports the Express.
Corrie fans were on the edge of their seats as Paul’s life hung in the balance. Kit’s panic was palpable as he called for help while Paul struggled to breathe.
The tension was cut by Bernie’s timely intervention, using a machine to ease Paul’s breathing, leaving Kit visibly rattled by the close call.
Later, an emotional moment between Kit and Bernie at The Rovers hinted at a thawing relationship, much to Paul’s relief.
But the plot has thickened after Kit ominously confessed to being “not a nice person” and unable to forgive Bernie, sparking fear among viewers that he might betray his own mum.
On social media platform X, Corrie enthusiasts shared their worries, with one posting: “Kit’s not always a nice person that’s an understatement. #Corrie.” (sic)
Another warned: “Don’t leave Kit alone with Paul! #Corrie #CoronationStreet.” (sic)
A third fan made a heartfelt request: “Can Kit not just be nice? #CoronationStreet.” (sic)
One optimistic viewer hoped: “Kit seems to care about Paul and maybe seeing Bernie help Paul will soften him towards her and stop him from causing anymore trouble for them. #Corrie.” (sic)
And another predicted a twist, suggesting: “Kit is exactly like his siblings and his mother, if/when he forgives Bernie, him and Bernie will be dodgy and conning together.” (sic)
