Coronation Street fans have been left gobsmacked as a beloved character swore before the 9pm watershed.
The ITV soap was back on screens on Monday (April 22) – and one moment saw Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger) chatting to Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver). Things took a cheeky turn though when Glenda made a cheeky quip.
Soap alum Eileen told her: “Are you alright? You look a bit tired.” Glenda replied: “I just stayed up late last night.

“I was watching Love Island. Not that I couldn’t sleep or anything, I just fancied the ar*e of one of the contestants!” she added, before giggling.
Soap fans were left gobsmacked at Glenda’s potty mouth. On X, formerly known as Twitter, plenty of fans pointed it out with one person saying: “Fancy the ar*e off did Glenda just say !”
Someone else added: “Glenda said “ar*e” pre-watershed as well haha.” A third penned: “Oh my god, wasn’t expecting that.” Another wrote: “Fancied the ar*e off one of the contestants” Corrie getting a bit wild with the chat.”

Jodie made her debut as former cruise performer Glenda in August 2022. Since arriving in Weatherfield, she’s landed herself a job in the Rovers Return and become a firm-favourite with viewers.
Recalling her first day at Corrie, last year, Jodie told Daily Star: “I remember I was stood in the corner of the Rovers on my first say sobbing and someone from the crew came over and I was like ‘I’m totally fine’.
“It is a constitution and I think the first person I spoke to was from Gary from security and I was like ‘How long have you been here?’ and he was like ’40 years Jodie’. They are a family and I think it comes across on screen.”
Over in the soap recently, Glenda was the victim of a robbery. After residing to bed at the Rovers, Glenda heard noises from downstairs.
She went to see what it was only to find two men in masks with baseball bats. They then forced Glenda on to the floor before stealing a variety of different items from the beloved pub.
