Corrie Joel killer twist as fans predict ITV soap will take leaf out of BBC’s book

Corrie viewers reckon Joel Deering’s days are numbered after his violent antics were exposed to ex-flame Dee-Dee, who’s on a mission for justice. Could this be the start of a gripping ‘whodunnit’?

The cobbles have been rocked by the revelation of Joel’s (Calum Lill) dark side, with Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) and DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) digging deep into his past for evidence after an emotional flashback scene laid bare his attack on Lauren (Cait Fitton).

Joel’s not backing down though; he’s threatened Lauren in hospital, claiming he’s lawyered up to fight for custody of their son Frankie. “You’re only doing this to punish Lauren, you’ve got no interest in Frankie,” Dee-Dee accused, to which Joel shot back: “You’re wrong, I love my son and I want to make sure he’s safe.”

He’s spinning a tale that Lauren tried to harm their baby, but it was actually Joel who made the vile move, hoping she’d miscarry. Miraculously, little Frankie pulled through and is growing stronger.

Lauren’s pleas for Dee-Dee to back off fell on deaf ears as she reported Joel’s menacing words to Swain, hell-bent on tracking down more victims of his abuse, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Corrie enthusiasts are convinced that a menacing plot twist is on the horizon as they speculate one of the show’s characters, Joel, might meet his demise at the hands of the Weatherfield women. Some eagle-eyed viewers have jumped onto social media to suggest a murder mystery storyline could be in play.

A gutsy Corrie fan posted on Reddit: “I’ve got a feeling that there is going to be a whodunit storyline and Joel will be killed off. I’m not sure why but with everyone threatening him and hinting that he will get what’s coming to him, I feel like they are planning up for that storyline. Maybe I’m wrong and I hope I am but that’s my gut feeling.”

Another viewer is theorising big time, adding their two pence: “I’ve had a theory for a while now that the past few months the show has been building up to a big storyline where 3 female characters (Dee Dee, Abby and Leanne) are going to murder Joel, Stefan and Rowan.”

This Corrie die-hard goes on to weave an elaborate plot: “And then DS Swain will have an experience of sorts that will change her views on justice and right and wrong which will lead her to helping these 3 women covering up the murders they’ve committed.”

Fans even brought up EastEnders in the chatter, with one saying: “Potentially as it would be McLeod’s answer to the Six.”

Meanwhile, another Twitter user entered the fray, insisting: “On #Corrie, Dee Dee and DS Swain have to either get dirt on Joel, record Joel’s confession, take him out or catch him in the act.”

“Random theory but Joel is gunna get killed with a whodunnit attached and the three women who hate him most will be in the frame #corrie,” wrote another armchair detective on Twitter.
