Coronation Street villian Joel Deering’s days are numbered.
The Weatherfield solicitor, played by Calum Lill, was unmasked as the man who harassed and attacked Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) in a horrific flashback scene.
Months on from Lauren going missing and blood being found at her flat, Joel was revealed to be the last person to see her alive. He was seen attacking the teenager as she screamed for help, seemingly killing her.

But Lauren wasn’t his only victim, as viewers then met a girl named Ellie who was revealed to have been targeted by Joel too. Ellie claimed Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper) was the man who groomed her, with Nathan also being charged over Lauren’s murder. But a later scene revealed Joel was setting Nathan up, and he was the man who had groomed Ellie just like Lauren.
During Wednesday’s (June 5) episode of the ITV soap, Joel popped the question to Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) after a disastrous dinner with his parents. Despite Dee-Dee initially turning down Joel’s proposal, she later had a change of heart after tuning to her dad Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges) and brother Michael Bailey (Ryan Russel) for some advice.
Dee-Dee’s U-turn left fans convinced that they will still tie the knot and the big day will result in Joel being exposed for his crimes. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan penned: “Odds on Lauren storming into Dee-Dee & Joel’s wedding? #corrie” Another added: “I predict the wedding will be in October for Super Soap Week, and that’ll be when it all comes out about Joel #Corrie.”
A third person said: “Another prediction Dee Dee will say yes and it’ll all come out at the Wedding.” A fourth social media user said: “Fast forward 6 months, Joel and Dee Dee’s wedding day, Joel chased by the bizzies, gets away with it dying by jumping from the church spire.”
Despite concerns from fans following their previous interaction, Ellie was revealed to be alive as Joel went to meet her in secret after she contacted him. She begged him for money but he ordered her to “go and earn it”. While Ellie’s fate was confirmed, there was still no sign of missing Lauren.
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
