Corrie’s Ken Barlow could be set for a surprise new romance with a cobbles resident – but fans are not too impressed.
The character, played by William Roache, has been a staple on the soap since 1960. As the longest-serving actor on the show, William has been involved in several big storylines on the cobbles.
His character Ken also had his own fair share of relationships. No stranger to a wedding, Ken has tied the knot four times to three women, and is a father to four children.

But now, fans have rumbled who Ken could be shacking up with next – and it’s fair to say they are not too impressed.
Over in the soap recently, Ken suffered a nasty fall, which resulted in him needing a carer for his injuries. The cost of a professional carer proved too steep for the Barlow family.
As a result, they recruited Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) despite lacking formal qualifications. However, she did share that she had some experience when caring for an ex-boyfriend.
The pair clashed at first – but last week, Cassie and Ken had a heart-to-heart which seemed to change Ken’s mind. Despite Cassie’s lack of qualifications, Ken announced he had no issue with her caring for him and would personally cover her wages.
Now, as Cassie gets stuck into being Ken’s carer, viewers reckon a romance will blossom between the two. On X, formerly known as Twitter, one person said: “I think there is going to be a “Nurse Nightingale Syndrome” storyline for Ken and Cassie.
“Where the patient becomes attracted to the carer. Ken may be falling for Cassie (who only wants his money) but could end up falling for Steve,” they added.
Someone else wrote: “Romance is in the air for Ken & Cassie. He’ll be taking her to Bistro soon.” A third quipped: “Watch yourself Cassie – Ken taking you out to lunch, that’s how it starts, ask any of his previous conquests.”
Another viewer said: “Christmas wedding for Ken & Cassie. A match made in heaven.” While on a Corrie forum, someone else mused: “I’m kinda enjoying Cassie around ken and Steve but is a love triangle going to form as Ken is a lothario.”
A second penned: “If Cassie and Ken do become a thing I’m not watching.” A third agreed: “Ugggh I cannot take to Cassie and seeing so much more of her now as love interest for Steve and carer for Ken is making me feel a bit nauseous but I take comfort in the knowledge that none of these relationships last long.”
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
