Corrie star Catherine Tyldesley’s Bonnie and Clyde show cancelled ‘with immediate effect’

The curtain has unexpectedly come down on the Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley’s hit musical Bonnie and Clyde.

The UK and Ireland tour of the show has been scrapped ahead of its scheduled dates in the coming months “with immediate effect”. Kicking off in February, the tour was set to wrap up in October, but on Tuesday (May 21) it was revealed that the show would be closing shop much earlier than anticipated.

The announcement came via a social media statement from the tour’s team. Over on Instagram and other platforms, the statement read: “Bonnie and Clyde The Musical will conclude its UK and Ireland tour with immediate effect.”

It continued: “We would like to thank the extremely hard working and endlessly talented cast and company that have entertained thousands of audience members across the country with this production.” Those with tickets for the now scrapped shows were assured they’d get the lowdown soon.

The statement added: “Ticket holders will be contacted by their point of purchase shortly with further information.” Among the stars of the show was ex-Corrie actress Catherine Tyldesley, 40, who had been treading the boards as Blanche Barrow.

She shared the spotlight earlier this year with Sam Ferriday, Katie Tonkinson, and Alex James-Hatton, who played Marvin ‘Buck’ Barrow, Bonnie Parker, and Clyde Barrow, respectively, reports the Mirror.

The show was scheduled to run at the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend from Tuesday to Saturday this week, before the sudden announcement of the tour’s abrupt end. Catherine had planned a temporary hiatus from the production starting this month and has recently shared posts from her trip to Malta, hinting that she had already started her break.

Catherine has been part of the cast since the tour kicked off in February, but took a brief leave last month due to health concerns. Daisy Wood-Davis stepped in to cover her role as Blanche during her planned break between May and July.

The tour was set to pause in August and resume in September, with Catherine expected to rejoin for the final performances. The tour was originally expected to wrap up in Northampton on October 26.
