Coronation Street’s Bernie Winter could hand son Paul Foreman over to the police to stop him from ending his own life, claims AI.
Earlier in the month, Paul (Peter Ash) informed Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) of his plans to take his own life before his motor neurone disease gets any worse.. Paul was diagnosed with MND last year and has now lost control of his right arm and leg.
He enlisted the help of Abi Webster (Sally Carman) to score benzodiazepines from her former drug dealer. Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) was furious when he learned of his husband’s plans, but eventually said he would aid Paul in ending his life.

Earlier in the week, Paul panicked as mum Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) came inches away from finding his stash in the kitchen. Concerned, Paul managed to move the tablets – but failed to inform Billy.
During Tuesday’s episode (January 23) of the ITV soap, Paul headed off on a caravan holiday with Bernie and Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell). But they were shocked when their trip was interrupted by a frantic Billy, who called his husband’s phone and begged him not to end his life.
In the emotional scenes, Paul was forced to confess his plans to his family. A tearful Bernie questioned Paul how he could think so little of her to have planned to take his life without her knowing.
Even though it pained them to do so, it appeared Bernie and Gemma resigned to do what needed to be done when Paul decides it’s time. Now, Daily Star has quizzed one of the world’s most popular artificially intelligent “creative” tools Bard AI Bard to determine whether Paul’s mum could have a change of heart.
The program responded: “Bernie’s situation presents a complex and deeply personal dilemma. On Coronation Street, finding out Paul plans to end his life is an incredibly heavy blow for Bernie.
“Although it would be a monumental choice, Bernie could decide to involve the police. By involving the police or a mental health professional, Bernie could ensure Paul receives immediate help and intervention, potentially preventing him from taking his own life.”
The system added: “Even though reporting Paul comes from a place of concern, it could have unintended consequences. Paul will no doubt feel betrayed and angry. Ultimately, the decision of whether or not to involve the police rests with Bernie and her gut instinct.”
