Corrie enthusiasts believe they’ve figured out Cassie Plummer’s scheme for Ken Barlow, and it doesn’t bode well.
Claire Sweeney’s character first appeared on the cobbles in 2023 as Tyrone Dobbs’ (Alan Halsall) estranged mother. She quickly became a fan favourite and was embroiled in some drama.
Recently in the soap, Ken Barlow (William Roache) had a severe fall, necessitating a carer for his injuries. The cost of a professional carer was too high for the Barlow family.
Consequently, they hired Cassie Plummer despite her lack of formal qualifications. However, she did mention that she had some experience caring for an ex-boyfriend.
Since then, Cassie has been looking after Ken, amidst romantic tension with his son-in-law Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson), reports the Express.
However, during Tuesday’s episode (August 14), Cassie and Steve were back to their playful squabbling – but Cassie seemed to go too far when she broke Steve’s favourite mug.
Enraged, he confronted Cassie – who later told him she was going to quit working for Ken. But later, Cassie visited Ken, who was on the phone with someone significant.
Cassie’s interest was piqued when she heard that Ken had won £50,000 from his investment.
Making her presence known, and seemingly reversing her decision to quit, Cassie then offered to make Ken a cup of tea before smirking to herself in the kitchen.
Viewers are now utterly convinced that Cassie has a devious plot brewing for Ken. On social media, one fan exclaimed: “Oh Cassie will be all over Ken now she’s heard all that.”
Another concerned viewer commented: “Please gosh, don’t tell me Cassie is gonna swindle Ken, cause we do not need this! ! Get out while you can Ken.” (sic)
Another chimed in with: “Just when I was starting to like Cassie, she’s going to bleed Ken dry.” Meanwhile, someone else warned: “Uh oh cue Cassie doing god knows what to get her hands on Ken’s 50k.” (sic)
Catch the drama on Coronation Street every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
