One of Coronation Street ‘s most important recent actors has been mistaken for an EastEnders legend in a classic mix-up.
Corrie has been rolling in tense storylines recently as Liam Connor’s bullying intensifies. As well as this other plots including a murder mystery after Lauren was killed off by an unknown culprit, leaving the audience guessing as to who the murderer might be.
Central to Lauren’s death storyline is DS Lisa Swain, played by Victoria Myers. Swain has been a poignant character in other plots run by the show, especially in recent months as psychopath killer Stephen Reid reigned terror on the residents of Weatherfield.

Now, she has been made a permanent cast member, with DS Swain sticking around for more than just the odd storyline. In a post uploaded to their social media channels, ITV bosses posted a picture of Myers as DS Swain standing outside the Rovers Return, with the simple caption: “DS Swain is here to stay!”
Fans of the show were quick to voice their approval of her being made a more permanent feature, as many have come to enjoy Swain’s no-nonsense approach to criminal suspects. Others were quick to make jokes about why she landed the role, with one fan writing: “That’s because Craig is in Big Brother, she’s doing all the arrests now.”
But one fan in particular was left dumbfounded at the picture that producers used to announce the news. Taking to the comments section of their Instagram page, the account wrote: “Thought it was Roxy Mitchell.”
This prompted a wave of similar-thinking fans to respond to the comment, agreeing with the original poster. Many other accounts added they “had to do a double take” to make sure it was not Roxy, who is played by Rita Simons.
One fan account asked: “Are they sisters?” Whilst a second added: “She’s going into Hollyoaks actually, but yeah she does look like her.”
A third fan said: “They’re so similar!” With a fourth user quipping: “They are very alike at a glance!”
Speaking about landing the permanent position on the soap, Victoria told Digital Spy: “We’re only just scratching the surface with Swain. When I got the call that this was happening, it was very much that she was the itch that I needed to scratch.”
Reflecting on her previous times on the show, she later added that her role was just meant to be temporary. “I was initially contracted to do eight episodes, so I didn’t expect this to happen at all and it’s really quite something,” she said.
“Obviously you hope it could happen, but my job at that time was to make sure that I got to the truth of this woman, portray that and do it as authentically as I possibly could,” Myers added. “Then from there it’s progressed in such a wonderful way, but this was never expected at all.”
Coronation Street airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
