Coronation Street favourite Samia Longchambon confessed she spent “all day crying” with her co-star after filming harrowing bullying scenes.
Over the past few weeks, ITV fans have been gripped to their seats as school bully Mason Radcliffe has wreaked havoc at Weatherfield High School. Viewers have watched Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall) and Dylan Wilson (Liam Mccheyne) be terrorised by the highschooler ever since he arrived on the Street.
After months of bullying his fellow students, Mason has built quite a reputation for himself both inside and outside of the school grounds. Arguably, the student most struggling with his arrival is Liam who has been bullied by him every day.

Now, the Maria Connor star has lifted the lid on what it was like to film those intense scenes with her co-star and on-screen son. Speaking to Daily Star and other press, the 41-year-old opened up about her relationship with the youngster.

She told us: “It’s really emotional. Charlie’s just been incredible. He’s only 14 and it’s lovely because he’s played Liam since he was three, so we do have a really close relationship.
“I’ve known him pretty much all his life which makes those scenes easier and harder at the same time because we do have an emotional connection to each other. And it’s hard because my daughter is 14, the same as Charlie, and I’ve also got a son.
“And to think that either of them could go through something like that or any child in the whole country is horrible. You hear about it on the news when kids have ended their lives because of bullying.”

The actor went on to explain the emotional toll that performing these devastating scenes has on the cast. She pointed out: “It’s a real thing and as a parent, it’s horrible.
“It’s not a nice thing to think about and having to act it and go through it, your body doesn’t know that it’s not real. When we’re making ourselves cry and going through that, it’s exhausting.
“So me and Charlie have had days where we’ve just been crying all day to each other, like we’re exhausted by the end of the day.” The mum-of-two went on to share her hopes about the heart-wrenching storyline.

Samie confessed: “But it’s good to think that hopefully this storyline might help other kids who are going through it and even the bullies to a certain extent. I hope that it might make them think twice about what they’re doing to the kids and how it might affect them in ways they don’t realise.”
Fans will have to stay tuned to see how Liam will overcome the intense bullying in the schoolyard.
