Film fans have been left “with a sting in their chest” after watching one tragic thriller.
In the Facebook group Netflix Bangers, one person posted screenshots from the 2009 film, Lovely Bones, and wrote: “This move is 2h and 15m long but it hurts for the rest of your life,” as more members gathered to agree. One person said that the flick is “such a beautiful movie” but “so sad,” while another added: “I was crying all the way [through] this movie. Masterpiece.”
“God, I went to see this at the movies when I went [to] Atlanta, it broke me,” revealed one film buff. Another typed: “I can’t watch it again, once was enough. Book was brilliant too.”

“This movie left a sting in my chest…I think about it every time I look at my daughters,” reflected one group member, as a second typed: “The Lovely Bones, beautiful and sad,” while a third said: “I read the book after seeing the movies. Both made me bawl.”
One person couldn’t even muster up the courage to give the film a shot: “I’ve seen trailers and it looks like a sad one. I think I will pass on this. Sometimes it’s hard to watch films like this.”
More people gushed that they “loved” the film and that they “will never forget Susie Salmon,” the movie’s main character. “The Lovely Bones and the book destroyed me,” admitted someone else.
One person wished for a different outcome: “I wanted them to find her so bad and I wanted them to [beat] the living [poo emoji] out of him. I’m still mad about the ending.” The Lovely Bones is a 2009 fantasy thriller with an all star cast.
The lineup includes a young Saoirse Ronan, Stanley Tucci, Mark Wahlberg, Susan Sarandon, Rachel Weisz, Michael Imperoli and Rose McIver. A description of the movie reads: “Susie, a fourteen-year-old girl, is murdered by her neighbour Harvey. She refuses to move on from purgatory saying she has unfinished business and continues to watch over her family and her killer.”
The film is based on a 2002 novel of the same name written by Alice Sebold. It became an instant bestseller and follows Susie’s story as she watches over her loved ones from heaven following her untimely passing.
