Amber Davies is “self-sabotaging” her own chances of winning Dancing on Ice, according to a body language expert.
The former Love Island star and musical theatre icon, 27, has been working her way to the final of the ITV show, beating out several of her other competitors. But things hit a snag for Amber and professional partner Simon Senecal when she landed in the bottom two with EastEnders star Ricky Norwood.
After a tense skate-off, Amber was saved by the judges and lives to skate for another week. But now, a body language expert has said that she is beginning to struggle with her self-confidence.

Speaking to Heart Bingo, professional dance educator and researcher Dr Jill Rose Jacobs said that Amber is the one standing in her own way of winning the show. “Amber’s performance last week was indeed lacklustre,” she said.
As well as this, she continued: “I think that, after viewing the high-energy routines of her competitors, Amber may have started to self-sabotage throughout her performance. Her choice of costume, scaled-down set design, and the low-key musical composition collectively diminished the overall strength of her presentation, and the realisation of these challenges will have dawned on her even before the performance.”
Looking back her previous routines, Dr Jill also made some observations that may have contributed to her slump in results. Dr Jacobs pointed that throughout the course of the competition, the stress of training may have had an effect on her gradual slip in performance.
“I think she’s losing weight and that may have affected her energy reserves and overall stamina, contributing to a less dynamic performance,” she added. “Additionally, the choice of her costume and music seemed to have an impact on her confidence throughout the routine.”
Her comments come as Amber appealed to viewers to “be kind” following her placing in the bottom two after she received heaps of hate. On Monday (February 19), she appeared on Lorraine Kelly ‘s show to address the situation, pleading with people voicing their thoughts to instead channel positivity for their favourite skaters.
Dancing on Ice airs every Sunday at 6:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
