Dermot O’Leary admitted he was “mortified” after throwing a coffee bean into Alison Hammond’s mouth on This Morning.
The presenters were discussing the cooking segment that was coming up on the ITV programme on Friday (April 26) when Dermot picked something up from the table and asked Alison if she reckoned she could catch some food in her mouth. She was up for it, insisting: “Absolutely, do a good one though!”
Dermot then stood back and lobbed the morsel towards his co-star. who cheered and threw her arms into the air in triumph as she managed to catch it on the first try. But Alison’s look of delight quickly turned to one of disgust as she tasted what Dermot had thrown.

“What is it?” she asked with a grimace, and was told it was a chocolate-coated coffee bean. She looked horrified as she tasted it, looking around aghast.

“Oh it’s horrible!” groaned the presenter. “Why would you even give me that?” she asked her co-host, who was left looking a little red-faced.
“I didn’t know what it was,” Dermot admitted, with an embarrassed look at his colleague. “I thought it was a raisin or something,” he explained. “Oh gosh!” Alison exclaimed, as Dermot told her: “I am so sorry.”

Someone suggested that Alison should munch some on some peach from the cooking demo to help her get the taste out of her mouth but she replied: “No, it’s alright.” But she did ask for a tissue so she could spit out the offending bean and Dermot rushed off to get one for her.
Turning to him, she expressed her surprise that he would have picked a coffee bean to throw to her, demanding: “Who would want a coffee bean?”

“Oh that is absolutely disgusting,” she went on, as Dermot continued to apologise. “So sorry, I am absolutely mortified,” he said.
