Eamonn Holmes destroys Phillip Schofield in on-air rant right before TV comeback

Eamonn Holmes has launched a tirade against Phillip Schofield ahead of his return to TV.

The former This Morning presenter, 64, destroyed the disgraced host in a massive on-air rant on his GB News programme on Monday (September 30). In the scathing remarks, Eamonn did not hold back in voicing his displeasure for Schofield.

Phillip is making his comeback to TV after leaving both This Morning and ITV after his affair with a much younger colleague came to light. Phillip has always maintained the legality of the relationship with the colleague, branding it as “unwise but not illegal”.

The former Cube presenter is now gearing up for his new show Cast Away, where Phillip was left marooned on a desert island for ten days. With only himself and a camera to hand, Phillip explained in the trailer for the show that this is an opportunity to tell “his side of the story”.

However, 16 months on from the scandal, Northern Irish broadcaster Eamonn was not buying into the new show. Explaining his thoughts, Eamonn had a simple message: “I believe he is where he deserves to be.

“I am one of the people who threw him under the bus, I am very proud to have done it,” he added. “This man is addicted to fame. Absolutely addicted to fame.”

Eamonn’s remarks came after Phillip admitted that he had felt “thrown under the bus” by his former colleagues. The revelations came after he was dropped on the island of Nosy Ankarea, off the coast of Madagascar.

Reflecting on the chaos that emerged from the scandal, former Dancing on Ice host Phillip said he was left devastated. “When what happened to me happened to me, it screwed up my favourite building in the world, and it pretty well blew away all those happy memories, and suddenly the place became hostile to me, and that was heartbreaking,” he explained.

“And the people who did it to me, know, they know how important that building was to me,” he added. “They know that when you throw someone under a bus, you’ve got to have a really bloody good reason to do it.”

He finished his thoughts: “Brand, ambition is not good enough. It’s not a good enough reason to throw someone under a bus.”

Phillip added whilst he was left abandoned on the island that he believed there were “three s***s” that were in part responsible for his downfall. Refusing to give names, he blasted each for refusing to help him when he was facing tough questions in the wake of Queuegate, where Phillip and co-presenter Holly Willoughby were slammed by the public for appearing to skip the queue during Queen Elizabeth’s mourning period.

Elsewhere on the show, Phillip admitted that the “toxic work culture” of This Morning was being grossly exaggerated. Despite confessing there were some “tricky people”, he said that the allegations made following his departure were close to “destroying” him.
