EastEnders fans reckon a soap villain could be set for a return – despite being killed off.
Back in 2010, vile Yusef Khan (Ace Bhatti) rocked up to the square and straight away he became one of most intriguing villains in soaps. Yusef made his arrival on the soap after tracking down his wife Zainab Masood.
The matriarch, played by Nina Wadia, had fled Pakistan after having an affair with Masood Ahmed (Nitin Ganatra) – with the pair settling down in Walford. But it didn’t take long for Yusef to show up.

In a shocking twist, it emerged that Yusef’s family set Zainab on fire decades earlier. What’s more, with her son Tamwar dating Yusef’s daughter Afia (Meryl Fernandes), the Masoods were forced to accept him into their lives.
However, Yusef managed to cause Zainab and Masood’s marriage to fall apart. He ended up manipulating and drugging her, causing her to be hospitalised.
Masood eventually divorced Zainab who was oblivious to Yusef’s sinister actions. The doctor then turned violent and started to abuse Zainab leaving viewers horrified.
However, when she planned to escape the abusive relationship, Yusef beat her before starting a fire at the B&B. But, getting her revenge, Zainab lied and said that his daughter was trapped in the fire.
Determined to save his child, Yusef barged into the burning building. But things took a dramatic turn when the floor suddenly collapsed beneath him, with Yusef falling into the flames.
Now, fans reckon a return could be on the cards despite the character being killed off. According to fans, viewers never saw his lifeless body in a bag after the fire settled down and the emergency team arrived.
On a Reddit thread, one person said: “I can imagine Yusuf khan from 2011 returning unexpectedly and teaming up with nish. He was the worst soap bad guy. Maybe they will cause another panesar house fire.”
Someone else mused: “Didn’t he go through the floor of the fire or was that a different character.” The first fan replied: “That was him.
“But anything is possible with Eastenders. Technically we didn’t see the body in the bag.” Another viewer chimed in and mused: “I always thought he would return in some kind of way.”
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One at 7.30pm
