EastEnders legend Ross Kemp shared an interesting five-word response to come-back questions.
The 57-year-old actor, widely known for playing the tough nut Grant Mitchell from 1990 to 1999, with stints in 2005-2006 and then again in 2016, stirred up fan excitement about potentially returning for EastEnders ‘ 40th anniversary.
While fans are eagerly speculating, Ross joined This Morning hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary, who just couldn’t resist quizzing him on whether he’ll be making a dramatic return to the show.

Alison directly asked the star: “Now I can’t let you go until we ask you about the EastEnders rumours. What is going on, are you going back for the 40th anniversary. Tell us what’s going on.”
To which Kemp gave nothing away, replying: “I can tell you nothing.” Not deterred, Alison chimed in: “But never say never.” Dermot humorously added: “She is wearing a wire too,” prompting laughter from Ross who played along, saying: “Exactly I know.”
Reflecting on the occasion, Kemp shared his pride: “I am very proud of the show celebrating 40 years and I wouldn’t have had a career, good or bad without it.”
Ross gushed about his love for the iconic soap, saying: “I absolutely love it and I still support it and I would if I had come from Coronation Street or Emmerdale, well I was in Emmerdale Farm briefly before but yeah, I am proud the show is celebrating the 40 years and I will continue to support it as long as I can.”
He then left everyone in suspense as he stated: “I can say no more than that.” But before Alison could muse about her producer dreams, the EastEnders tune cut her off. Dermot couldn’t hide his joy as he exclaimed: “Oh they’ve just smashed it out the park.”
Alison then added her two pence: “If I was a producer I would bring you back.”This tease comes hot on the heels of EastEnders bigwig Chris Clenshaw dropping hints to The Sun about old favourites potentially popping up for the soap’s epic 40th celebrations. Pondering on the comeback of past legends, Clenshaw spilled to The Sun: “Maybe. It all depends on the story and where the characters are. But it has to come from character, it has to come from story.”
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
