EastEnders Liam Butcher star unrecognisable nine years after soap exit

Former EastEnders star James Forde looks completely unrecognisable as he continues to share his most recent looks on Instagram.

The 27-year-old actor is best known for playing the role of Liam Butcher in the iconic soap from 2008-2015. But since leaving the show, James has taken a different career path and is sporting a new look.

James Forde has all grown up since playing the role of Liam

Before he took on the memorable role of Liam, the character was played by six different actors before then. He was also recast in 2021.

The most recent actor to play Liam was actor Alfie Deegan. However James still remains the longest-running actor in the role, starring on EastEnders for seven years.

The Butcher family was one of the most memorable families in EastEnders history, having had legends such as Frank Butcher (Mike Reid), Ricky Butcher (Sid Owen) and iconic Pat Butcher (Pam St Clement).

As the family expanded, Ricky went on to have a son with his wife Bianca (Patsy Palmer) who they called Liam. Liam was born prematurely on Christmas Day in 1998.

But when Ricky and Bianca split, Bianca moved away from Walford and headed to Manchester. However, she later returned to Albert Square with Liam and her other children Tiffany Dean (Maisie Smith), Morgan Jackson-King (Devon Higgs) and Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty).

During his time on the show, James was involved in several hard-hitting storylines including a dyslexia diagnosis – which explained the difficulties he was then having at school. Not only this but Liam also briefly joined a gang, which involved him being arrested and saw him ultimately get stabbed by another gang member.

Liam became involved in a relationship with wayward Cindy Williams (Mimi Keene). This promoted them to leave Albert Square togther in 2015.
