Emmerdale fans were left floored as Cain Dingle “swore” during the latest instalment of the ITV soap.
During Thursday’s (February 29) hour-long episode, Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) returned to the village and shared some heartbreaking news with her loved ones following her cancer diagnosis.
Chas revealed to her family the cause of her cancer is the faulty BRCA2 gene, and Cain (Jeff Hordley), Caleb Milligan (William Ash) and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) are blindsided to learn there’s a high likelihood they could have it too and are further rocked with the realisation they could pass it on to their children.

After learning he could have the breast cancer gene, Cain said: “bloody hell” and viewers at home couldn’t believe he used the language as they tuned into the show. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan penned: “Cain has some of the best sarcastic lines.” Another added: “Never heard Cain swear before.” A third social media user said: “Cain using filthy language.”
After romping with Dr Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson), Chas was warned that her health may be in danger when the GP found a lump in her breast. The Woolpack bar manager tried to avoid reality before she had no other choice but to face the music with Liam and, eventually, Lydia Dingle’s (Karen Blick) support.
Chas’ worries grew when she was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer which reminded of the secrecy her mother Faith Dingle maintained around her own breast cancer diagnosis, she decided to open up to the rest of the Dingles. Chas urged the three men to get checked to figure out if they may have the BRCA2 gene, which was pointed out as the cause of her health ordeal.
She continues treatment for her cancer, next week unlike her mum Faith who opted to end her life on her own terms and Chas makes a huge decision. She later makes a big discovery when Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) accidentally reveals to her that her son Aaron has no intention of getting the BRCA2 gene test. Fuming at Vinny, Lydia intervenes and tells Aaron about Chas’ appointment that day.
A nervous Chas is bolstered by Aaron’s support as he joins her for the hospital appointment and she reveals her intention to have a double mastectomy. Later, Chas admits how afraid she is and is comforted as she finally gives in to tears. In another twist, Aaron eventually requests his referral for the gene test. But what will be found?
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 8pm
