ITV soap legend Andy Moore, known for playing Emmerdale’s PC Mike Swirling, has been gracing the telly in the Yorkshire-based drama since 2004, dealing with all sorts of mischief and mayhem caused by the Dingles and a host of other wild characters.
Moore isn’t just a one-trick pony his acting ability extends well beyond the Dales. The seasoned actor has charmed his followers on Facebook, where he shares personal achievements and glimpses into his life.
But he’s got a more colourful background than most might expect, including a different birth name, a stint on the cobbles of Coronation Street, a part in cop series The Bill, and believe it or not, a dive into the world of pop music.
Andy goes by another name in real life. On Facebook, Andy Moore also uses the name Andy Whittaker.
The actor has popped up in TV shows for years. In 2005, Andy snagged a role in Corrie, sporting the hat of a driver for two episodes. oap star Andy has been quite the busy bee with roles in big shows like The Bill, The Royal, and Fred and Marv.
In 2021, the actor was all over his Facebook page sharing a now-removed YouTube short called Barry Glitter. As for tunes, Andy’s been jamming along as well, sharing a Courting music video on Facebook in 2022 where he features.
He bragged: “Andy starring in a music video for indie band Courting,” but only notched up five reactions tough crowd! Amidst the Covid chaos, Andy went all out producing and starring in The Last Lockdown Sketcha zany 10-minute short. It hit YouTube with the blurb: “When your online consultation with your doctor goes one massive step further.”
The doc hilariously talks a patient through some major surgery over Zoom. Andy posted it with the note: “Hasn’t the last couple of years been strange and frustrating. As a mark of coming out of it this film ridicules the weird time we have just come out of with elaborate exaggeration and a rather dark twist.”
Viewers were loving it, and one even dropped a comment to say: “That was excellent I was recommended by our mutual friend Susie Cakl to check it out my partner Kim really enjoyed it as she also loves you in Emmerdale.”
