Emmerdale Samson star ‘very excited’ as he breaks silence on ‘killed off’ claims

Emmerdale actor Sam Hall has addressed rumours about his possible on-screen exit as character Samson Dingle.

The rising star, 20, catapulted to fame at the tender age of just five when he first graced our screens as Sam Dingle’s son. However, it was his hard-edged baby storyline with Amelia Spencer that left fans unhappy and suspicious about his character’s darker side.

His potential departure from the Yorkshire Dales drama had fans fearful that his exit could be a permanent one – claims which Sam appeared to quash during a recent interview, reports the Mirror.

He told Inside Soap: “Well, I don’t want to give too much away, but Samson has some really big stuff coming up,” reassuring viewers: “Don’t worry, as he’s definitely not being killed off!” Furthermore, he hinted at intriguing elements bound for his character saying: “There are some good stories coming up for him, and I was very excited when I read the scripts.”

Sam admitted he enjoys playing a tougher Samson, but believes his nicer side ultimately prevails, especially in touching storylines where he empathises with Amelia because of experiencing losing his own mum. Samson didn’t want the same fate for his own child.

“He can get angry, but his intentions are always right in the end. At the end of the day, he was just a confused young teenager who didn’t really expect to be having a kid so soon,” he added.

But will he leave Emmerdale a villain?

Rumours of Sam’s potential exit from the soap first surfaced in April 2024, with an insider revealing to The Sun: “Sam had a meeting with bosses earlier this month where they broke the news. He has been left devastated. He’s grown up with his on-screen Dingle clan and they are all very protective of him.”

The same source also shared that “some of the cast even went to talk to bosses about their decision”, as Sam’s on-screen family, the Dingles, made up of soap legends such as James Hooton aka Sam Dingle, Jeff Hordley, Lisa Riley, Lucy Pargeter and Mark Charnock, were “angry” to learn the young actor had been axed.

“As news of his axing swept through the building there were quite a lot of angry Dingles. The fact that they are planning on killing him off means there’ll be no way back for him either. He’s absolutely gutted”, the source concluded.

An Emmerdale spokesperson had declined to comment at the time.
