Emmerdale favourite Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) gets arrested for kidnapping baby Ivy next week.
The villager recently snuck away to a remote cottage with the little girl after she was forced to say goodbye when her dad Gus Malcolms (Alan McKenna) announced he wanted them to move to France. Fans of the ITV soap will know Ivy was born when Gus and his late wife Lucy Malcolms (Charlotte Asprey) illegally stole frozen embryos that he and Rhona had fertilised when they were married.
Rhona discovered Gus’ secret and confronted him and wife Lucy, which pushed her into early labour – and she died. Gus fell into depression and couldn’t cope with Ivy so Rhona and mum Mary stepped in – but it backfired and Rhona feels as if she is Ivy’s mother.

Now with Gus feeling stronger he took baby Ivy back for a night to see how they got on – but it devastated Rhona. At the secret hideout holiday cottage, Nervous Rhona is in a panic as she asks her friend Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) to help her and Ivy navigate a move to start a new life in Canada.
Vanessa tries to talk Rhona out of this but Rhona refuses to abandon the idea. Meanwhile, Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson) and Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) convince Gus not to immediately call the police about Ivy’s kidnapping and he gives them until midday to find Rhona. Vanessa tries to call Marlon about the situation, but without a signal is unable to reach him. Gus grows impatient as the deadline approaches, so a nervous Marlon agrees to call the police himself.

However, with Vanessa managing to establish contact and thus betraying Rhona’s location, Mary begs Marlon to go talk to Rhona instead, which Gus reluctantly allows. Marlon arrives at the cottage just as Rhona is about to leave with Ivy. Though initially defiant, Rhona finally seems to understand the ramifications of her actions as Marlon reasons with her. But then Gus and the police show up and arrest a devastated Rhona for kidnap.
In recent weeks, fans have been theorising on social media that Rhona could do “something stupid”. Fans on X, previously known as Twitter, speculated that Rhona might do something “stupid” like running away with Ivy. One person posted: “Rhona is breaking my heart #emmerdale.” “The Rhona and Ivy situation can only end one way. Very badly. #emmerdale,” a fan ominously shared. Another guessed: “I think there’s a storyline coming up where Rhona disappears with the baby. I mean, FFS. #emmerdale” while a worried viewer noted, “#Emmerdale of course it’s bl**dy obvious Rhona’s gonna do something really REALLY stupid.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm
