Escape to the Country’s Nicki Chapman had to lay down the law with a couple after they were left utterly speechless by a mystery house that seemed too good to be true.
In a recent rerun of the beloved BBC series, Cris and Stewart, who were ready to ditch London life after 26 years for a more tranquil existence, were on the lookout for a four-bed dream home in the Scottish Lothians, armed with a hefty budget of £475,000.
The pair, eager to be nearer to family, enlisted the help of property guru Nicki Chapman to guide them through their quest. She showed them three potential properties, but it was the final mystery house in Coldingham that really got their hearts racing.

As they approached the property, an impressed Stewart couldn’t help but exclaim, “Now you’re talking.”
Nicki, delighted by their reaction, said: “I wish I could just take a snapshot of your faces as you came up the drive there! Isn’t it incredible? ” Stewart, clearly taken by the house, agreed with Nicki, indicating that it was exactly what they were looking for.
Once inside, Cris couldn’t contain his excitement upon seeing the grand hallway, exclaiming: “This is exactly what we want. It’s got character, it’s got detail. This is beautiful, I love it.”, reports the Express.
The home seemed to check every box on their list, prompting the couple to delve deeper into the seven-bedroom property spread over three floors. Throughout their tour, their enthusiasm never faded, with Cris adding: “I love it, it’s perfect for us. This is like our forever home, I feel it. I feel really comfortable here.”
Agreeing with his partner, the hubby chimed in that it was the dream pad they’d been on the hunt for, telling Nicki they were very keen. Their jaws hit the floor when she dropped the bombshell that the gaff was up for grabs at offers over £325,000.
But she threw in a curveball: “But, we’re not going to do a little dance as yet because as you can imagine, at that price, it’s gotten an awful lot of interest. So, that’s what you’ve got to think about. I think it’s safe for me to say that house won’t be sold at £325,000. But, that is what it’s on the market for, offers over. You are going to have to move very quickly on this one.”
The pair weren’t put off by the fierce competition though, as they told Nicki they were ready to slap down an offer pronto after having a chinwag with their solicitor.
As the show wrapped up, the viewers found out that the couple’s bid had been snapped up and they’d bagged themselves their dream home.
