Fern Britton will ‘quit’ CBB if Phillip Schofield joins lineup after ‘tricky’ stint

Celebrity Big Brother star Fern Britton confessed how she “might have to leave” if Phillip Schofield was to join the ITV show.

The iconic ITV show returned for another episode on Wednesday (March 6) after kicking off its brand new series. The likes of Colson Smith, Louis Walsh and Ekin-Su have all signed up to live in the most famous house in Britain.

Since Fern walked into the house, fans have been hoping she will dish the dirt on why she no longer talks to former This Morning co-star Phillip Schofield. The pair used to front the ITV show for years back in the noughties.

And in the latest instalment, Gary Goldsmith was keen to get the gossip on Fern Britton’s former workplace, This Morning. He asked Fern: “What do you think about what’s been going on recently with This Morning?”

She replied: “Genuinely I haven’t been there for 15 years.” Fern added: “15 years! I got off the train and it’s way over the horizon now. And I don’t know.

“I can’t say anything. Anything I would say would be supposition of blah blah blah,” she went on. Fern then said: “So… it was tricky at times. It’s another institution.”

Talking about This Morning’s latest hosts, Fern quipped: “I think Ben and Cat are going to do a really good job. I think it’s a new era.”

Their conversation soon turned onto the topic of Fern’s former colleague Phillip Schofield and whether he could make a bombshell appearance later on in the series. Gary said: “There was a rumour about Phillip coming here.”

Fern replied: “Oh well. That didn’t happen yet. Maybe he’s coming in as a surprise! I might have to leave at that point.”

Phillip quit This Morning last year and walked away from his TV career following the news of his “unwise but not illegal” affair with a younger member of staff. Meanwhile Fern said goodbye to the show in 2009 and was replaced by Holly Willoughby.
