Gemma Collins suffered a medical emergency while on holiday with her fiancé.
The TOWIE icon, 43, has been revelling in an Italian getaway with partner Rami Hawash as they start making plans for their wedding day. But as the couple jetted off on their romantic trip, their dreams soon turned into a nightmare.
The duo had made their way to the island destination of Venice on the eastern coast of the country earlier this week. Heading to the city to scope out potential wedding venues, everything was going fine for the couple until Gemma was stung by a wasp.

As the couple made their way around the city looking at menus for their wedding reception, Gemma took to her Instagram to update fans on how she was getting on. However, as she was tucking into some food, she was soon stung by the insect – on her tongue.
Revealing all in the post to her Instagram story, Gemma confessed that she had been sipping on a cappuccino on her veranda in the city when the attack occurred. She added that after the incident, her tongue began to swell – requiring medical attention.
She also shared footage of the aftermath of the incident, when paramedics arrived to her hotel on a boat ambulance. As the clip went on, Gemma was treated, as she held an ice cube to her tongue to reduce the pain and the inflammation.
Gemma was later heard in the clip telling her fiancé, who was off-screen: “Even my face is swelling now, my eyes.” However, in an effort to lighten the mood, Rami had a bit of fun, quipping: “What a romantic holiday, my baby got stung.”
Looking back on the incident, Gemma told her followers: “I can’t believe it. So guys, I am literally sitting here drinking – there’s never a dull moment – I’m sitting here drinking my coffee as I drink it I feel a sharp sting on my tongue.
“It could only happen to me, and now I’m about to die because my tongue is swelling up so much, but we’ve got an ambulance coming,” the Celebrity Big Brother star added. “I’m gonna have the injection and I’m not dying today.”
Writing about the experience in a post to her social media platforms on Tuesday (October 1), Gemma went on to thank Rami for “acting so quick” in getting the medical professionals to look at it. She added: “Thank god and the hotel was amazing and a huge thank you to the hospital in Venice and all involved.”
Wrapping up her inspirational post about the ordeal, Gemma penned: “Wasps are the powerful female warrior and shamanic healer, prompting us to take a good look at our lives and ask if we are fighting the good fight. If you are stung by wasp, it’s her way of saying, ‘Wake up! Do your spiritual work!”
