Ghostbusters star Dan Aykroyd believes ghosts are real and they’re our pets when they die

Ghostbusters star Dan Aykroyd believes that people’s pets become spirits when they die.

The 72-year-old actor – who created and starred in the Ghostbusters franchise – insists anyone devastated over the death of their dog or cat can contact a special type of medium to speak with them.

Dan, who played loveable Ray Stantz in three of the movies, insists it is possible because both cats and dogs are sentient beings.

Appearing on the Bullseye podcast, he said: “The province of Quebec in Canada has deemed cats and dogs as sentient beings. When a dog or a cat crosses over, absolutely. There are very talented mediums out there who are able to get in touch with your pet, I am glad to say.

“So, yes you can get in touch with your pet, you just need the right medium to do it.”

Dan’s own family has firsthand experience of conversing with a dead pet as his father Peter – who has written books on the history of the supernatural and witnessed seances conducted by his family as a kid – was contacted by his own dead pet cat Bob.

The Canadian comedy star explained: “When my father went to Lily Dale to visit the spiritualist community, which is registered mediums, he went to a woman.

“I never knew that my dad as an eight-year-old boy had a cat named Bob.

“The woman said your cat Bob wants to reach you Peter and wants to acknowledge you.

“How the f**k is the woman in Lily Dale going to know about my dad’s cat Bob? She described it, a little grey cat, my cat dad was floored, even though he had a great interest in paranormal research and watched seances as a little kid. “That to him was a validation.”

Blue Brothers star Dan, who has spent his life studying the supernatural and things that cannot be explained, also reckons he’ll be coming back as a ghost.

He added: “I don’t fear death at all. Obviously, I don’t want the ride to end earlier than it should because I am enjoying where I’m at now and where I think I’m headed.

“I’m confident that my soul energy, my atomic force mass energies, densities, sphere, whatever that soul is atomically, is going to go on, I have no doubt.”
