Girls Aloud’s Cheryl breaks silence on viral video of her saying she wouldn’t perform hit

Girls Aloud hit the road for a mega 30-show tour across the UK and Ireland from May to June 2024, sending fans into a frenzy.

The iconic Irish-English pop group first burst onto the scene in 2002 before parting ways in 2013, leaving fans on tenterhooks over whether there would ever be a reunion. But now they have come together once again, one of Cheryl Tweedy’s old interviews has resurfaced, as it was the reason many fans thought the band would never return.

In the throwback clip from the 2006 E4 doc ‘Girls Aloud: Off the Record’, Cheryl was seen strolling with her ex, Ashley Cole and poo-pooing the idea of a comeback, quipping: “Can you imagine a 30-year-old ‘I’m just a love machine?’ Nah. No thanks.”

That vid turned into meme gold, and now it’s come back to bite her. But Cheryl’s clap back on her latest tour is pure gold. In a TikTok vid posted by Lauren Faye (@laurenxfaye), the Geordie lass sets the record straight: “There’s a video floating around that is of me saying I would never perform Love Machine in my 30s.”

She sassily adds: “Okay, but if we’re going to go there. Last tour, I was 29. Today, I’m 41. I never performed Love Machine in my 30s. Ha! Let’s go.”

TikTok is buzzing with comments as fans can’t get enough of Cheryl’s age-defying looks at 41. One user gushed: “41?! Damnnn she aged like wine! They all did.”

Another chimed in with: “Queen chezzaaa,” while someone else penned: “She looks incredible for 41 mind.” A third fan cheered: “Love her for this.”

The news comes after Cheryl was almost pulled off stage by Girls Aloud fan during the latest gig. The band performed at the singer’s hometown of Newcastle on Friday (May 31) night but things took a turn as she was almost yanked from the stage by an overzealous fan.

The shocked singer was saved from falling off the stage by a member of security staff. An over enthusiastic audience member appeared to almost pull her from the runway at the centre of Girls Aloud stage at the Utilita Arena.
