One Gladiators contestant only had good words to say about her fierce rival after butting heads in The Ring, the first challenge of Saturday’s show (February 10).
Bolton-born Betti was tailed by Fury in the first challenge of the night, with a task of hitting a button in the centre of the arena as many times as possible while also being tackled, scooped up and generally fought off by the Gladiators. She faced off against Irish contestant Tuathlaith, who was stalked by Diamond.
As a professional rugby player, Fury had all the right skills to put Betti on her back with a series of furious tackles. But asked about the technique afterwards by host Barney Walsh, an out of breath Betti confessed: “She is an absolute machine. I’ve had some hard tackles in football, where I’ve been rammed into fences, and it felt like a fence… and a car crash.”

Speaking of her battle with Diamond, Tuathlaith said: “It was good, she’s strong! I tried to get round her, but when she caught you, there was no getting away from her.”
Fans on X – formerly known as Twitter – couldn’t get enough of the Gladiators themselves, with plenty branding Fury and Diamond “gorgeous”. One joked: “How much does one have to pay to be carried around by Diamond? Asking for a me.” While another replied: “This but to get rugby tackled by Fury.”
“I think Fury might be my favourite!” someone else agreed. Another fan chimed in: “Diamond is stunning. My favourite female Gladiator.” While fifth fan said: “Diamond from Gladiators… be still my beating heart!”
Fans still weren’t impressed by the awkward back and forth between presenters Bradley and Barney Walsh, with some thinking Barney is “out of his depth”. One viewer penned: “#Gladiators I love Bradley Walsh but for me Barney isn’t working, he’s not a natural presenter, he looks out if his depth. I feel this is nepotism at its finest.”
Another agreed: “Poor Bradley’s son because the toughest thing about this show is watching his presenting #Gladiators.” While a third said: “Bradley & Barney Walsh are the only negative on the #Gladiators reboot. Everything else is a joy to watch.”
This week’s show saw Bradley snap at his son when he joked: “Here’s an idea: [Sheffield] council should name a street after one of the Gladiators!” Bradley interrupted: “No way, absolutely not.

“Terrible suggestion. Would be chaos. Because no-one wants to cross one of our Gladiators!” Barney didn’t look impressed with the line, and the audience had a rather tepid response with just a few hoots and giggles rising from the crowd.
In another tense moment, Viper had a stand-off with Barney, who admitted he was “scared” of the big Gladiator. Viper seemed to be trembling with suppressed rage as he got up into the contestants’ faces – with Barney chuckling nervously.
One fan said in response: “Poor Barney looks like he’s doing an NVQ.” Others raced to support the presenter, with one writing: “Bradley and Barney are brilliant! Big #Gladiators fans in this house. We want a celeb one!!!”
Another agreed: “I think we are in the minority but we quite like Barney Walsh on #Gladiators in our house!”
