Ed Balls has sparked fury among Good Morning Britain viewers after he could not recognise a huge music icon.
Balls, 56, returned to ITV on Tuesday (February 13) to host the long-running morning news programme, together with Charlotte Hawkins. Whilst covering the entertainment section of the show, the pair were also joined by resident entertainment reporter Richard Arnold.
During the segment, Richard told viewers that GMB was able to speak exclusively to 00s RnB legend Usher, following his iconic half-time show at the Superbowl on Sunday (February 11). In a quick soundbite with GMB’s reporter, Usher explained that the huge show was the beginning of a new project and a new cycle in his career.

Speaking to the show, Usher quipped: “To be able to style the Superbowl and be able to offer my artisinal taste, it was really amazing. This is the next chapter that I’m talking about, so I hope that you guys are ready to put your hammers down and get ready to skate.”

Skating played a big part in Usher’s show, which was shown to a huge 123.4 million viewers. But as Richard revelled in the show’s ability to have a quick chat with the recording artist, host Ed seemed bemused by the interaction.
As co-host Charlotte told Ed to bust out the skates himself for a bit of fun, Ed simply responded: “Who was that?” Clearly stunned at his lack of facial recognition, Richard slammed Ed as he continued on with his reports, adding that Usher had tied the knot to this long-term girlfriend Jennifer Goicoechea in a secret ceremony before the show.

Arnold pointed out that Usher had been papped wearing a wedding ring on his finger during the huge spectacle, which came as a surprise to viewers following his well-known love life. But Ed, still baffled at who the Yeah! star was, offered his best wishes to the couple.
“Whoever he is, I wish him well,” Ed stated as attention turned away from Usher and onto other stories. But viewers watching the show were stunned that he did not know who the legendary artist was.
Taking to social media, several disgruntled fans made their feelings known, with one viewer penning: “Ed you got told who Usher was yesterday! You do now know who he is – not a funny joke really; it’s just rude.”

A second user agreed adding: “Ed Balls doesn’t know who Usher is, but knows every single person on Love Island?” Whilst a third account wrote: “Ed Balls might know who Usher is if he enters Love Island, maybe!”
