Good Morning Britain was left swooning over Anthony Joshua on Monday morning (March 4) after the boxer made a sweet confession about his personal life.
AJ, 34, appeared on the ITV show via a live stream from Riyadh ahead of his fight with Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia on Friday. He explained to Susanna and her co-host Richard Madeley what it’s like for his mum to witness her son taking punches to the head in the ring.
“Sometimes she doesn’t show up – she stays behind and she prays a lot,” he explained. “She says she can’t really watch her son because she doesn’t enjoy it. Its tough for her, of course, but she enjoys the fruits of her labour – I take care of my mum a lot – I love her dearly.”

Olympic gold winner Anthony then made a shock admission when asked by the pair about his living arrangements, as mum-of-three Susanna joked: “No judgement!”
He revealed: “I still live with my mum. I realised that when I started training – which I do away from home a lot – that if I’m away for 10 months of the year and then when I get back I’ve got to do commercial work I realise that if I was to move out I’d never actually see my mum.”
He continued: “I’m away in various parts of the world for a lot of the time, but my actual base is at home with Mum. So I can still wake up and see her and spend time with her when I can.”
It prompted Susanna to gush in response: “That is so lovely. That is just like the tender heart of someone who is about to go into a ring and try and knock someone out!”
Agreeing with Susanna on social media, one X (formerly Twitter) user declared: “What a lovely guy, so humble and grounded.” Another shared the same sentiment: “Anthony Joshua, lovely cool guy. Very best of luck. Xx.”
A third wrote: “Nothing wrong with most young adults do, and if he and his mum are happy with it, no one else’s business.” And a fourth joked: “She probably irons his socks!”
Elsewhere on the show, Susanna paraded her Royal Television Society award for Network Presenter of the Year, which she scooped last week. “I’d just like to say that this is testament to every single person on the programme,” she said to applause from the studio.
“It is 10 years this year since we launched Good Morning Britain. This is to everybody I have presented alongside. Thank you to everyone behind the cameras and of course everyone who watches – I couldn’t do it without you guys. So thank you very much indeed.”
