Gogglebox star George Gilbey’s mum Linda is totally heartbroken after her son tragically passed away at 40.
George, who was best known for his appearance on the commentary show and Celebrity Big Brother, sadly died following a workplace accident. Tributes have been pouring in for the late star after the news of his death hit the headlines.
It comes nearly three years after his stepdad Pete, who was also on the Channel 4 show, died at the age of 71. Pete passed away just days after doctors told him he had six months left to live.

The star was diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer back in 2021. Following the tragic news about George, a close pal has said his mum Linda is struggling to cope. They told The Sun: “First, she lost Pete, now her son as well.

“She is incredibly emotional. George was like her little treasure.” Speaking at the time of her late husband’s death, Linda revealed her son had been left “really cut up” by his sudden passing.
She said: “Pete was a lovely man and I was so lucky to have him for 25 years. I said to him, ‘We’ve not only been 25 years, it’s been day and night with each other.
“He was my life. I have a message from a young lad I know who said, ‘Ordinary people won’t be remembered, but we’ll remember Pete forever – like the pyramids.’ I thought that was beautiful.

“He was so proud of George when he was in Big Brother too. Him and George really loved each other, George is really cut up.”
The trio quickly became a hit with viewers when they joined the Channel 4 show in its second series in 2013. The family from Essex left the show one year later in 2014, as George entered the Celebrity Big Brother house and made it to the final.
In 2016, George, along with Linda and Pete McGarry, returned to Gogglebox, much to the joy of many TV watchers. After the news of his death, former Geordie Shore star Ricci Guarnaccio was one of the first to pay tribute to George.

The reality star shared a collection of pictures of himself and George on social media. He captioned the pictures: “Breaks my [heart] but @georgegilbey you are well and truly going to be missed my friend.
“Always lit up the room, cared for others and the memories we made I’ll cherish for ever brother. From CBB to speaking to you last week, I’m going to hugely miss you ma boiii! Love you G.”
Tributes have flooded in for George online as one person wrote: “Absolutely speechless. Rest in eternal peace George James Gilbey. Thinking of all your family – life’s really is cruel and tomorrow is never promised.”

Another added: “Wish this wasn’t true. Gonna miss you George James Gilbe – you were a one in a million. Fly high mate.” Someone else commented: “Can’t believe what I’m reading.
“You were the happiest, the life of the party and such a big part of the HTA family. You will be very missed, RIP George.” A fourth person said: “Absolutely gutted for Lynn and family, sleep well George you legend.”
