Good Morning Britain star announces ‘I’m retiring’ as he takes break from ITV show

Good Morning Britain star Richard Arnold is taking a break from the ITV show.

The 54-year-old showbiz presenter has been a part of the ITV show for several years. But on Tuesday (October 8) Richard joked he was “retiring” as he announced he was taking some time off from the programme.

But fans of Arnold needn’t worry as he did reveal that he’ll be back for the Pride of Britain awards later this year. After providing presenters Susanna Reid and Ed Balls with an update on Big Brother, Susanna told viewers they can catch up with more news from the house tomorrow.

Richard replied: “I’m on leave.” Susanna said, “Oh no,” as a brief silence filled the studio.

Arnold joked: “I’m retiring from public life, until the 21st, I’ll be back for Pride of Britain!” Sharing further insight Richard explained what he’ll be doing during his time off.

When Ed asked whether he would be heading to Ireland during his time off, Richard added: “No, no, I’ll be spending a bit of quality time with mother. As always.”

Complimenting him Susanna said: “You’re the ideal son, I just hope that my sons at your age could say the same thing.” Giggling at her comment, Richard laughed: “I wish my mother would say the same thing!”.

In August, Richard revealed a disagreement he had with his partner. He said “My other half and I have fallen out over a shower attachment,” leaving his colleagues in hysterics.

Earlier in the year, Richard also mentioned that he has been with his partner for almost two decades. But he’s still waiting for marriage and it looks like he wants his other half to pop the all-important question.

He said: “We’ve been together for 19 years now my partner and I, it feels like five minutes, underwater. Still no ring on my finger, but I’m waiting.”
