Spine-chilling new horror Longlegs has set the internet ablaze after fans claimed “best horror film of 2024”.
One person on X/Twitter wrote: “We’ve had some superb horror movies in the past 5 years. I think these two might knock it out of the park, though. If you haven’t seen the marketing for #Longlegs, please look into it. It’s been so creative and chilling and I haven’t been as excited for a horror film in ages.”
Someone else added that the “old school atmosphere” used in the camera shots for the Longlegs trailer are “unsettling,” while someone else who claims to have seen the film tweeted: “I was so lucky to see #Longlegs and no exaggeration, it could be the best horror film of ‘24. [Osgood] Perkins can really get under my skin; this is his masterpiece. Monroe give a fabulously unique lead performance, and Cage? Nightmarish. Maybe the scariest [first] 10 mins ever.”

More comments about the trailer flooded in – one person said the film looked “twisted,” another said they can “hardly wait” for the horror film’s release as a third film fan added: “Most anticipated [film] of the year bar none. Even the goddamn trailer made me gasp. Love that they’re getting equal billing too #Longlegs.”
The film is set to be released by Neon on July 12 this year and features Maika Monroe as the lead character Lee Harker. She is joined by Nicolas Cage, Alicia Witt and Blair Underwood on the cast.
Longlegs’ description reads: “Lee Harker, a new FBI agent, has been assigned to an unsolved case of a serial killer. As the investigation becomes more complicated with occult evidence uncovered, Harker realises a personal link to the killer and must act quickly to prevent another family murder.”
The horror was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia between January and February 2023 and Andrés Arochi worked as cinematographer on the project. On the film’s IMDB page under the “Trivia” section, the website has reported that test audiences “praised Cage’s performance” and said he was “so off putting that it could potentially scare viewers off”.
Another comment read: “Test audiences described the film as having imagery very similar to films such as Silence of the Lambs, Cure, Zodiac and Se7en.”
