‘Gruesome’ Netflix horror has fans ‘covering eyes’ during ‘bloody scenes’

Netflix fans are terrified of one gore-filled flick with “lots of scares”.

In the Netflix Bangers group on Facebook, one person posted: “I read the title on Netflix but never expected the movie to be so gruesome. If you can stomach it, it’s a good watch,” as more streamers gathered in the comment section.

One person wrote: “I loved this one. Haven’t seen a good bloody horror for a while,” as someone else chimed in: “Reminded me of Friday 13th…eishh, closed my eyes too many times.” A third fan added: “Really good movie! Kinda cheesy start but good movie.”

Another person agreed “such a good movie” while others said they “liked it” and that Thanksgiving was “a good one”. One comment read: “It was good, cheesy 80s type horror film. Loved it all,” as another typed: “It was good, lots of scares, a good horror movie, plenty gruesome.”

Thanksgiving is a horror mystery film released back in November 2023 and stars Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Nell Verlaque and Milon Manheim. The flick follows a town in Massachusetts which is being terrorised by a crazed killer in a John Carver mask while the residents attempt to celebrate Thanksgiving.

It was released in cinemas on November 17, around the time of the American holiday, and was well received by cinemagoers. It reported grossed $46 million across the globe and a sequel is currently in development.

One person said that they “had a lot of fun with it” and branded Thanksgiving “a modern day slasher” that is “nostalgic, campy, gory and fast-paced”. Addison spoke to Elite Daily about the sequel and said: “There’s obviously tons of horror movies for Valentine’s Day, but I love a good Valentine’s Day slasher.”

Director Eli Roth has previously hinted that the follow up film will be released “sometime in 2025, probably around Thanksgiving”. Fans have taken this as a hint that the John Carver villain will return on the traditional US holiday.
