Gwen Stefani ‘wants to puke in her mouth’ when performing old No Doubt songs

Gwen Stefani might need to bring a sick bag to No Doubt’s upcoming reunion.

The band are set to reunite in April at US festival Coachella, but the gig may prove tough for her as she has a physical reaction to their back catalogue.

Gwen said: “I can’t listen to a lot of songs because they speak so clearly to me. You have regrets, you have mistakes, and a lot of songs are about that. When I do Ex-Girlfriend, when I say it I almost throw up in my mouth because I just know exactly where I was at the moment to write that song. It brings you right back.”

One tune that doesn’t make her throw up is her new love ballad Purple Irises with husband Blake Shelton, but the single almost never happened as Gwen sometimes doesn’t feel the need to keep writing new material. The chart-topping singer explained: “If I want a new song it’s like: ‘Why would I need one?’ I would have to take Hollaback Girl out of the set to play another song.

Sick bag aside, Gwen’s hoping reuniting with her No Doubt bandmates will be like “riding a bike”. Stefani also spoke to People about the band’s scheduled reunion for the renowned music festival.

Gwen said that the plans “happened so fast,” which is her “favourite kind of thing to happen”. She also confessed that the former bandmates “haven’t really figured out the next steps of how they’re going to do this” as they navigate their future plans, but according to the songstress they are all “so excited”.

Something that has really spurred the band on is the reception after making the Coachella announcement. She said that they’ve been “watching the internet blow up” due to “excited fans,” which has kept the quartet “inspired”.

Before this year’s Coachella performance, the last time the band played live together was way back in 2015, three years after their final album Push and Shove was released.

Gwen became a household name as the group’s lead singer and her fellow bandmates are guitarist Tom Dumont, drummer Adrian Young with Tony Kanal on the bass.
