On Tuesday’s show (March 19), Si said: “We’ve done it, but more importantly he’s done it. He’s my mate but I love him like family, like a brother, and I’m lost for words. It’s quite remarkable what he’s done”. Dave also shared: “Who knows what the future holds but for the moment I’m living in the present, and it’s pretty fine.”, reports the Mirror.

After the show ended, there was a special message for Dave that read: “In loving memory of our friend, Dave Myers. He’ll be greatly missed.”

In this episode, the two friends learned about fresh water at a watercress farm, met a blacksmith, and looked for their favourite snack – biltong.

During their TV adventures, the two mates visited cool places like Manchester and Newport, and even had a ride to Bristol. Dave chatted about all the yummy food he found while touring the UK and the great new memories he made with Si while filming their show.

At the end of one episode, Dave talked about his dreams for what’s next and said he was feeling good about food in Britain. He shared: “It’s the most wonderful snapshot of the West Country. This part, you know? We started off in Newport. I didn’t know that Newport was a foodie destination. Of course, we get into Bristol, and then the world just opens, you know, there’s memories here, a lot of memories for both of us.”

“But what’s lovely is the optimism of looking forward, and certainly on the food front. It’s very, very exciting and very optimistic. We’ve got the best of the past and the best of the future.”

Sadly, Dave passed away at the end of February, and his wife Liliana Orzac and his buddy Si told everyone the sad news. Liliana posted some pictures of Dave and wrote: “Rest in peace, my love. My wonderful, brave man! Till next time we meet! ” Si also said something really touching: “[My] best friend is on a journey that for now, I can’t follow… I will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime.”

Si King from the Hairy Bikers shared some really sad news with fans. He said: “Hi everyone, I’m afraid I bear some sad news. Most of you will know Dave has been fighting cancer for the past couple of years. Last night, on 28th February 2024, with Lili, Dave’s wife, his family, close friend David and myself by his side, he passed away peacefully at home. All who knew Dave are devastated at his passing.”

He also said that Dave’s wife and her kids brought him a lot of joy. Si added: “His beloved wife brought him such happiness as did her children, Iza and Sergiu who Dave loved like his own. Personally, I am not sure I can put into words how I feel at the moment. I wish you God’s speed brother; you are and will remain a beacon in this world. See you on the other side. Love ya.”

Si also wanted to say thanks to everyone who sent kind messages: “I know Dave and his family would want me to thank all of you who sent messages of support in recent times. It meant the world to him, his family and all The Hairy Bikers team. I am sending you all much love and gratitude for those simple acts of kindness, generosity and spirit. We are eternally grateful for them. May I ask you all for one further kindness and allow Lili, his wife, his family, close friends and I some time and some peace to process our huge loss. I am sure I will see you all soon. Love Si x.”
