Hundreds of motorcyclists have hit the road for an epic 75-mile ride in honour of late Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers.
The much-loved chef and TV star died in February at the age of 66 after fighting cancer. His best friend and fellow Hairy Biker Si King shared the sad news on Instagram, saying everyone was “devastated” and adding: “My best friend is on a journey that for now, I can’t follow.”
Following Dave’s death, Biker Escorts East Yorkshire organised a memorial ride to pay tribute to the late star. The riders set off from Beverley, East Yorkshire on 7 April, making their way to Scarborough, with photos showing hundreds of people taking part.

In a post on Facebook before the event, organisers said there had been a “colossal response” after they announced the special memorial ride, with 3000 people having registered their interest at that point.
Dave announced in May 2022 that he had been diagnosed with cancer, but didn’t share what type he had. The chef told fans that he would be undergoing chemotherapy and joked that he might be the “baldy biker” for a bit while he was having treatment.
But sadly in February this year, Si posted a message on Instagram saying that his best friend had passed away peacefully at home with family and friends by his side.
“All who knew Dave are devastated at his passing,” he said in the moving post. “His beloved wife brought him such happiness as did her children, Iza and Sergiu who Dave loved like his own.
“Personally, I am not sure I can put into words on how I feel at the moment. My best friend is on a journey that for now, I can’t follow.
“I will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime. I wish you god’s speed brother; you are and will remain a beacon in this world. See you on the other side. Love ya.”
