Home and Away Theo opens up on ‘commitment issues’ after sharing major career news

Home and Away’s Matt Evans has opened up about having commitment issues.

The actor is best known for his role as Theo Poulous on the Australian soap, introduced as Leah Patterson’s (Ada Nicodemou) nephew in 2021. Matt was able to show off his impressive vocal talents at work when his character became the fourth member of Summer Bay’s local band Lyrik.

Away from the soap, the TV star has a huge passion for music and recently released his new single, Sold. Matt opened up about the emotional meaning behind the song, admitting he has struggled with relationships in the past.

On Instagram, Matt posted a video of himself singing the song while sat in front of a city skyline. He added the caption: “SOLD – a song about meeting someone when your heart wasn’t ready.”

The soap star added: “Having commitment issues for me has always been a sign that something isn’t right or more importantly I just don’t feel ready. This is for anyone who feels they haven’t found their somebody yet x”.

He also shared a quote that said: “Met the girl of my dreams but I wasn’t ready yet…” He wrote alongside the snap: “Comment if you can relate. Loving all of your positive comments on sold xx.”

Theo has been growing closer to Valerie

Back in the Bay, Theo has been growing close to newcomer Valerie (Courtney Clarke), who was Leah’s roommate a the mental health clinic. Valerie was hesitant to open up to Theo at first, but eventually shared more about her difficult past.

Valerie revealed that her brother’s death occurred while they were having an argument in his car and that’s how she ended up at the clinic. During Friday’s episode (April 5) of the Channel 5 soap, Theo was devastated after learning that he failed his TAFE exams.

Valerie immediately snapped at Theo for his reaction, leaving him confused. He later found her at the beach and apologised for complaining when she has her brother on her mind.

After Valerie also apologised, Theo pulled her into an embrace as they sat on the beach. But Theo’s calm mood quickly turned into frustration after a hearted conversation with Kirby (Angelina Thomson). Sensing his distress, Valerie offered him something “that will help” – a pill. Theo hesitated, but eventually swallowed it.
