One horror film full of body horror that made viewers “faint” upon watching is now available to stream for free in the UK.
The graphic horror was so gruesome it made fans walk out of cinemas in disgust. Released in 2021, that film is Titane, which follows Alexia, a woman with a titanium plate fitted in her head after a near fatal car crash as a child. In a disturbing turn of events, she ignores her parents when she’s released from the hospital and instead hugs the car that almost killed her.
Things only get more disturbing from there, as she grows older and develops a sexual attraction to cars. At one point, Alexia strips naked and has sex with a car – and, somehow, becomes pregnant with a, er, car baby. She begins secreting motor oil from her vagina and gives birth to a titanium baby in one of the most horrendous scenes on screen.

She also becomes obsessed with murder, leading to a string of gruesome deaths throughout the movie, and at one point smashes her own nose to pieces by bashing it on a sink. But lead actress Agathe Rousselle has defended the film as it had a female director.
She told The Times: “If it had been a male director — Tarantino, Cronenberg, anyone — it would’ve been less surprising. And we’re so used to men being violent and making violent movies. It’s kind of time for men to know that women can be violent as well.”
She added: “[Alexia] wants to f*** cars. There’s nothing wrong about it.” Speaking to Thrillist, filmmaker Julia Ducournau explained: “I definitely wanted it to feel like a real sex scene, but at the same time it was her narrative, so I didn’t want to make it tacky or pornographic or anything.”
Agathe was “scared sh**less” to strip off for the film, but admitted that romping in the car as it bounced up and down was “like a fun fair” ride. She added: “It’s a weird show. But it’s okay.”
Upon watching the film for the first time, some cinema-goers stormed right out of the theatre, which Agathe admitted was a “shame”. Regardless, the movie scooped the coveted Palme d’Or prize at the Cannes Film Festival, though over in Sydney, fans couldn’t cope.
