Boomtown Fair is known as one of the UK’s biggest and best music events and as festival veterans, we’re shocked we haven’t visited sooner. Here’s why we’re already itching to go back…
As it stands, we’ve travelled far and wide when it comes to the festival scene, covering most of the UK circuit and even venturing abroad for our dose of DnB. This year, we decided it was finally time to tick Boomtown off our bucket list and venture down to Winchester to see what the hype is all about.
Let us tell you, it exceeded all expectations and went above and beyond what we believed a festival could deliver. Now we truly understand why people return year after year, which is evident from the varied groups of people you’ll find at the Fair. From the new generation of ravers to old seasoned hippies, the event welcomes crowds from all walks of life.

To begin with, we have never felt safer. As two young women – who nowadays are often each other’s only sidekicks when it comes to partying – we felt instantly at ease in the artist’s camping area, which felt like a small village all on its own.
The festival’s community spirit was spread far and wide, from food vendor workers that brightened up our morning each day (big up Harissa and Lemon ) to making new pals and exchanging in the queues for the shower (shout out to Konetix!)
Feeling safe is integral when it comes to enjoying yourself at a festival and we felt Boomtown went above and beyond to ensure everyone felt at ease. They provided dedicated LGBTQ+ and solo raver camping areas with group chats set up on the app for people to find and communicate with like-minded individuals.
Exploring Boomtown was exactly like going down Alice in Wonderland’s rabbit hole as every corner of the site was filled with theatrics, with live actors and circus performers ready to interact at each turn. From standing underneath giant mushrooms at Nexus to meandering under multi-coloured lanterns in the Hidden Woods, and not forgetting feeling like you were part of an alien invasion under the lasers at Area 404 – all senses were constantly heightened!
Admittedly, as DnB lovers we spent a big chunk of the time circling back to the Origin stage, where top acts such as Sota, Bou and Flava D all shelled out sick tunes. However, we ventured out to uncharted territory many times where we found hidden rooms by luck and crowds fan-girling over the likes of Abba, Britney, and Paramore.
Not only are the festival grounds built like something out of a storybook, BUT festival goers themselves also go the extra mile when putting on their glad rags. If you are worried about wearing your most outlandish look then don’t fret, because the more OTT you are the more you’ll blend in at Boom!
Party people can also partake in the immersive storyline which differs from year to year, meaning attendees can venture off on side quests and complete secret missions if they fancy a break away from the dancefloor. From interacting with the event’s actors to following an intricate breadcrumb trail, this is another element that makes Boomtown stand out from the rest.
Due to the sheer size of the festival, there was still so much we didn’t get around to doing or seeing, with hundreds of acts on the lineup and so many magic doors left unopened. From techno to Irish folk, jazz to emo punk, and hardstyle bassline to pop princess throwbacks – you’re guaranteed to stumble across something you definitely like and music you never even knew you’d love.
Do yourself a favour and grab a ticket for August 2025 if you fancy taking part in your own twisted fairytale. Trust us when we say it was more than an average festival – it was an all-round, once in a lifetime immersive experience. No two Boomtown experiences are ever the same year after year thanks to the ever-changing storyline.
We can’t wait to return next time and do it all over again!
