One of the world’s biggest bands were set to appear in one of the Star Wars prequels but were robbed of the worlds-colliding moment after fans kicked off.
Confirming the news on the Hot Ones podcast last year, pop stars *NSYNC joked about the time they nearly made it to the silver screen. During the interview, the group claimed that scenes were apparently shot of JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick as Jedi Knights – with other members Justin Timberlake and Lance Bass reportedly “too tired” from touring to take part.
The participating members of *NSYNC even had to learn sword-fighting choreography, before shooting scenes set to appear in Star Wars: Episode II, Attack of the Clones (2002).

There’s lots of quality news coming out of the US.
The lads were down to be extras during the Battle of Geonosis during the film’s climax, but once word got out the band behind I Want You Back were appearing in the franchise, Star Wars fans got very angry.
“Star Wars fans got crazy when they heard about it,” said Lance Bass on Hot Ones. “They did not like it.”
Following the poor critical reception to the first sequel, Phantom of the Menace, already-aggrieved Star Wars fans perhaps felt *NSYNC’s presence would destroy the franchise’s reputation further.
Although at this stage there were only rumours about the boy band’s potential cameo, such was the backlash that Saturday Night Live penned a skit about the situation.
*NSYNC member Steven described filming their parts “in a gargantuan big, big green screen room” in one of Lucasfilm’s sound stages. Each band member was reportedly given a stick with “rubber, little lightsaber”, before being told they “could do any kind of style you want, because later on we’ll react the droids to what you did.”
According to Joey Fatone, some members of *NSYNC got so into being Jedis that they would not stop saying “vroom, vroom, vroom, shh, shh,” as they swung the lightsabres around.
“They kind of paired us off, it was actually me and my brother that were kind of fighting back-to-back for the big arena scene,” Joey told the Huffington Post. “They basically said, ‘Pretend like you’re fighting droids.'”
The other scene that the musicians were set to appear in included Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and a hovering Yoda. While the two well-known acting stars were filmed walking down a corridor, *NSYNC were supposed to be there just “hanging out” while dressed in the iconic Jedi robes. “A couple of Jedis hanging out,” said Joey.
