Here’s a list of footballers who may show their faces on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
The next series of Ant and Dec’s ITV juggernaut is just around the corner and the latest rumour is that former Republic of Ireland manager and captain Mick McCarthy is set to be a camper. The rumour has gone down a storm with fans, so Daily Star asked ChatGPT what a football edition of I’m A Celebrity might look like.
It picked some high-profile stars of the beautiful game, including Paul Gascoigne and Roy Keane, and suggested that Peter would end up being crowned King of the Jungle.

We have a look at what ChatGPT had to say…
Mick McCarthy
Mick is already tipped to be one of the stars jetting Down Under when the hammocks are hung in the coming weeks, and according to ChatGPT he “would bring leadership and his famously dry sense of humour” to the jungle camp. It also suggested that the football star and TV pundit’s “blunt manner” could create some entertaining moments around the campfire.
Paul Gascoigne
Former attacking midfielder Gazza is no stranger to TV, having done reality shows such as Scared Of The Dark and his own programme, Gazza. So he could be a good contender for the series.
ChatGPT said he has “already proven to be TV gold, from his unpredictable antics to his emotional side”, adding: “He’s a fan favourite and would add unpredictability and charm.”
Peter Crouch
The site figured that former player Peter’s “comedic timing and laid-back personality” would go down well with viewers. The footy ace – who is married to model and TV star Abbey Clancy – is also a seasoned entertainer off the pitch, with his podcast (That Peter Crouch Podcast) and TV work on shows such as The Masked Dancer.
ChatGPT said the star has “the perfect mix of humour, charm, and relatability”, adding: “He’s someone who can win over football fans and non-fans alike, and he’d handle both the tough jungle trials and the social dynamics of camp with ease. His self-deprecating humour and likability would make him a favourite with the public, and he has a way of getting along with everyone, which would help him avoid major conflicts.
“Plus, his laid-back personality and willingness to not take himself too seriously would make him entertaining without being polarising – a key trait for winning I’m A Celebrity….”
Alex Scott
Former Strictly Come Dancing contestant and England international player Scott could be a contender on I’m A Celebrity as she is “smart, funny, and well-respected” by fans.
ChatGPT said that the pundit’s “experience in the media and football gives her great crossover appeal” too. Plus the TV beauty has “got the competitive streak to handle jungle life” if she were ever to sign up for the ITV series.
Jamie Carragher
Former football player Jamie is known for his sense of humour and the programme reckons it would help “lighten the mood in the camp” if the pundit was one of the stars sat around the campfire.
“His bromance with Gary Neville is already beloved, but Carragher on his own would still bring his quick wit and down-to-earth personality,” it said.
Gary Neville
If Jamie was one of the campers it would make sense to send Gary in to face the creepy crawlies and Bushtucker Trials too, as the former footy players are close.
“Pairing Neville with Carragher could be reality TV gold, but even on his own, Neville’s strong opinions and competitive streak would make him a great addition,” the site said.
Jill Scott
Former Lioness Jill has already been an I’m A Celebrity camper, winning over viewers on the series in 2022 and going on to triumph and be crowned Queen of the Jungle.
But as she proved to be so popular with fans, she could go back in for another stint, with ChatGPT suggesting she could go into camp for a “legendary” appearance or as a camp leader or mentor.
Karen Carney
Former England player Karen was picked for the imaginary football edition as she is “a well-spoken and passionate figure in women’s football”. It was also noted that the former winger and midfielder – who is now well known as a football pundit – is “tough”, so she would “likely excel in the physical jungle challenges” if she was on the show.
Troy Deeney
Striker Troy, who started his professional career in the game at Walsall, could be a part of some of the most interesting campfire chats if he ever decided to do a jungle stint, thanks to his “outspoken and candid nature”. “He has got a big personality and doesn’t shy away from saying what he thinks,” ChatGPT pointed out as it listed possible campers.
Roy Keane
Former player and manager Roy could be interesting to watch around camp, plus all eyes would be on him and Mick if they were both contestants. The pair famously clashed days before the 2002 World Cup, and Mick ended up sending Roy home from Saipan, one of the Northern Mariana Islands where the team had been preparing for their matches in Japan.
It turned out that Roy had been critical of the team’s training facilities, and Mick sent him packing.
“Keane’s intensity and unfiltered opinions would create some great confrontations and banter, especially with McCarthy given their infamous falling out from the 2002 World Cup,” the programme said.
