‘I’m a TV star who really can talk to pets – once a cat told me to ‘f*** off’

Last week a talking Jack Russell made a splash on our Daily Star front page as his proud owner Ellie Chapman revealed pooch Ozzy says her name and tells her “I love you”.

Communicating with your four-legged friend doesn’t mean you’re barking, vows Beth Lee Crowther, who is seen doing exactly that in her new telly show The Pet Psychic: What’s Your Dog Thinking. And that’s despite a cat once telling her to f*** off!

Beth, whose skill was honed in childhood and will be revealed in the series starting tonight on Channel 5, says: “I use telepathy and a psychic link. I hear their thoughts; I can feel their emotions and sometimes I can see a little video in my mind of what they’re trying to show me.

“It’s like I’m on the phone to them.” Beth is convinced she’s not alone and a lot more people have the ability to gasbag with their furry friends but simply don’t realise.

She says: “I’m passionate about teaching people how to do it themselves. If you’re an animal lover and you’re open-minded, you may well have this ability.” The key to making a connection with an animal is being fully relaxed. Beth says: “The first thing to try is some meditation.

“You need to get your mind in a calm place and you need to feel relaxed. Then get a photo of the animal and say their name in your mind three times and imagine they can hear you. Ask them a question or ask if there’s anything they want to tell you. Then write down anything that comes into your mind. You may feel an emotion or you may even get a smell or a taste. Be conscious about anything that comes to you because the animal is putting it there.”

She has some wild stories

Beth wants people to try to connect with their pets because she knows how wonderful it can be, increasing your personal connection. She says: “What happens depends very much on the animal you’re connecting with. Like people, some are chattier than others. It can give you a new perspective on what the animal is going through. We all love our pets and want to do the best for them and learning to connect with them can help you develop a strong bond with them.”

The chance to chat with animals is something that will give many pet owners a massive boost, instead of trying to interpret what barks and meows are meant to mean. But Beth warns you need to brace yourself for just about anything as some of them have a cheeky personality.

She aims to tell viewers how to do it

She says: “You can get some surprising things – I’ve had all sorts. I went to see a cat called Lulu and she basically told me to f*** off. I wasn’t expecting that, so it made me laugh. Sometimes animals predict something that’s going to happen too.”

However, like putting up with a mate droning on the phone for hours, connecting with animals can also be pretty tiring. Beth admits: “You couldn’t do it from morning until night. In some ways it’s very draining as it takes time to tune in.”

Beth has been visiting pet owners around the country for her TV series, which will see her encounter dogs and cats along with deers, badgers, camels and alpacas. And she’s promising it will be TV gold.

She says: “On the show I tune in and try to help them solve problems people are having with their pets. Some of the animals have strange problems. I also show people how they can do it and try to give them a bit of an insight.”

The Pet Psychic: What’s Your Dog Thinking starts tonight at 7pm on Channel 5.
