Jade Goody tragically passed away on Mother’s Day in 2009, causing much pain for the family – especially her two children, Freddy and Bobby. Following her death, it was decided that dad Jeff would continue to have custody of the two children, but would ensure to see Jade’s mum Jackiey as much as possible.

When the family initially settled into the new arrangement, Jeff had revealed that problems were to be expected as there were “pitfalls and stumbling blocks” that needed to be navigated. However, the pair were willing to make it work to ensure the boys still got to see their grandmother.

But despite the efforts being made, Jackiey and Jeff often clashed due to Jackiey giving what Jeff described as “inappropriate gifts” including a hamster and a mobile phone. These gifts were eventually confiscated by Jeff, as he tried to ensure that they had as much of a normal life as possible.

Things escalate

Looking back at the presents, Jeff explained that Jackiey would regularly buy them phones in order to “have direct contact with them both” – something that Jeff was fuming with, as he had not been consulted about them having mobiles. However, Jeff was still determined to make the relationship work: “I can’t fault Jackiey when she’s got the boys, I just wish we could work together a little better,” he explained to The Mirror at the time.

Following this, Jackiey claimed that Jeff had banned her from seeing Bobby and Freddy for years in order to maintain a calm environment for the kids. Things began to heat up, eventually boiling over when Budden was not allowed to come to the set of Strictly Come Dancing, when Bobby performed a fitting tribute to mum Jade.

In a previous interview on This Morning, Jeff explained that the lack of contact was down to Jackiey: “It has ended very well, but five years ago she went off on her own path and it wasn’t quite right to have that contact and she made it quite difficult because she went to Tenerife. But as she settled in herself, the boys kept a lot of contact with her and at the moment she’s very helpful and very prominent in their lives.”

No love lost

Since being banned from the set of Strictly, Jackiey has gone on the war path, hitting out at Jeff for her inability to see her grandchildren, now aged 19 and 20. She explained in an interview that she had no way to see her grandkids – so much so, she had to buy tickets to the Strictly live tour in order to catch a glimpse of eldest Bobby.

Describing their father, Jackiey left no holes barred as she told the Mail on Sunday in February that he was dubbed “several times as ‘the c**k'”. She went on to explain: “We don’t get on. We are very different, but I have been there for those boys since they were born.”

Brazier has not come out to make new claims about Jackiey since the pair’s public spat. Jade’s widower Jack Tweed also voiced his opinion on the feud, urging everyone to get together for the sake of the kids, adding that: “Jade would not want” there to be any animosity between the families.
