Fans of Emmerdale are certain that a cherished Dingle could be set for death – in what could be a massive plot twist.
Moira Dingle, portrayed by Natalie J. Robb, first graced the renowned Dales back in 2009 and has since won the hearts of viewers. Her popularity is such that she’s bagged numerous awards over the years.
It’s safe to say Moira has experienced a rollercoaster of events during her stint on the soap, including tying the knot with a member of the Dingle family and dealing with her dear daughter’s drug overdose. Not to mention the character’s myriad of passionate affairs.
Moreover, recently in the well-known village, Moira was hit with the life-altering news of having a brain tumour, following her unusual behaviour and seizures, reports Leeds Live.
The revelation left the Dingles shattered but the renowned family were then struck with another heartbreaking blow when it was disclosed that Zak Dingle, played by Steve Halliwell, had passed away in Scotland. Zak was returned to Scotland by Cain (Jeff Hordley) and his funeral was held last week.
Regrettably, Moira was offered a slot for her tumour removal surgery – but declined it as it coincided with Zak’s funeral date. Adding to the drama, next week, things are expected to get emotionally charged when Cain confesses his fear of facing the possibility that Moria could pass away.
Moira later opts to visit her son Adam (Adam Thomas), but it then hits Moira and Cain that he may soon be bidding her farewell forever. Emmerdale enthusiasts are biting their nails over the possibility that Moira might be the next Dingle to face a grim fate, sparking a flurry of speculation on social media. A worried fan posted on an Emmerdale Facebook group: “Are they really going to kill off Moira?”
The post set off a wave of reactions from fellow viewers. One fan speculated: “I have a feeling they will, there’s not been a huge on-screen death for a while.” Another chimed in with: “That is ‘true’ at least not since Heath or Rishi but she can’t die, she’s brilliant.” Someone else pondered the implications: “Can’t do that Cain would not recover but never say never in soap land.” And yet another viewer expressed their potential deal-breaker: “Hope not I’ll stop watching if this happens.”
Natalie J Robb, who brings Moira to life on the small screen, opened up about her character’s brain tumour plotline. She shared: “I feel really fortunate to be trusted with such a challenging storyline. Moira and her family have an extremely challenging time ahead, and I’m hoping I can portray it in a truthful way that does justice to all the people who are really suffering with a brain tumour.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
