ITV under fire as presenter slams broadcaster for not taking ‘unwell’ Rageh Omaar off air

An ITV News presenter has hit out at the broadcaster for not stepping in and taking Rageh Omaar off the air after he became “unwell.”

On Friday (April 26) the 56-year-old journalist, who also holds the position of International Affairs Editor, began to battle with his speech as the night’s bulletin aired live to the nation.

Rageh’s apparent struggle sparked a wave of worry among those watching at home. Concerned, they posted the footage on social media platforms.

However, former ITV News correspondent Angus Walker has since slammed the broadcaster for not stepping in earlier. Taking to X, he wrote: “Wishing #RagehOmaar well.

“On a Fri eve the@itvnews newsroom is pretty empty even as News at Ten is on air but there is a duty Editor on call precisely to make any big calls. I’ve been asked to step in for a colleague who fell ill just before going live – can and has been done.”

Daily Star has reached out to ITN for comment.
