‘I’ve done Glastonbury for 20 years – there is one item you must always take’

A Glastonbury Festival guru who has been 20 times revealed the reason why he always takes fabric conditioner with him.

Dan Thomas, who posts under DanThomasUK, is lucky enough to have scored a ticket for 16 Glasto’s in a row. And that means he’s pretty clued up on the long list of do’s and don’ts.

So, we bet you think he’s mastered the art of doing all of his festival washing on the campsite ready to be ironed, pressed and folded all ready for when he makes the commute back home?

Well, that’s wrong. The Glastonbury guru actually brings the laundry product for a very different kind of reason – and it might make you squirm.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, Dan teased: “It’s not so much the fabric softener that I recommend people buy, it’s the size of the bottle and the size of the spout…

“This is a ‘4am in your tent’ kind of situation where you think ‘oh it’s a little bit cold outside but you know’. I’ll let your readers connect the dots there…

“But, fabric conditioners come in a rather large bottle with a rather wide spout – which is helpful at that time of night and they’re popular with both men and women in that kind of desperation situation too.”

If you’re struggling to master the Glastonbury guru’s game of connect the dots, then let us lift the lid off the spout for you (although you might not want us to).

Well, the fabric conditioner bottle is the perfect size if you need to go to the loo if you’re caught short or can’t be bothered to make the pilgrimage to the portaloos.

The hack was thought to be first discovered about 15 years ago at Glastonbury by Dan’s mate Rob, so shout out for the bloke for that one!

Dan recently shared his packing ‘must-haves’ on his TikTok and Instagram, where he has a collective 100,000 followers, and many were baffled by the washing detergent.

Of course, the toilet based hacks do not stop there from the festival connoisseur. If you’re not one to rely on a fabric conditioner bottle, then you’ll want to know this.

He shared: “My top Glastonbury toilet hack is something called the compost loos, which actually as a name probably doesn’t illicit the best picture in your mind.

“They’re like portaloos, with very very deep bottoms on them, and they are filled with compost.

“They tend to be quite spacious, they’re lit inside and not particularly smelly. For some reason, I just think people treat them with a little bit more care and respect.

“But, also, considering they are in peak high foot-fall areas like the back of the Pyramid Field and at the bottom of the Stone Circle, they are very underused.

“I think people look at the shape of them and expect a sort of dirty portaloo that you might see your local town summer fete. But, they’re actually quite nice.”
