Jojo Siwa fans are fuming after realising her mother bleached the star’s hair as a toddler.
The Dance Moms star grew up in front of the cameras and there are many documented moments of Jojo getting her hair dyed by her mother Jessalyn. A recent clip has been circulating the internet and Jojo’s fans are outraged.
In the Dance Moms video, Jojo says: “I have been dying my hair since I was two, maybe one and a half. I’m not a natural blonde, I’m a natural brown.

“I have brown roots so I have to dye it!” Next, Jessalyn is shown applying bleach to Jojo’s hair as she quips: “You know, your hair is getting really dark. We’re going to need to lighten this up. Nothing is off limits when it comes to doing what I think will benefit Jojo.”
Down in the comment section, Instagram users slammed Jojo’s mother for her decision to bleach the dancer’s hair from such a young age. One person scathingly wrote: “Yup. Some folks don’t want children, they want dolls.”
Others speculated that this could cause hair loss for Jojo while one person defended the child star and wrote: “This is why I don’t understand all of the hate against Jojo, she’s cringe alright but she’s literally a victim. She hasn’t had five minutes of alone privacy to figure out who she is and that’s why she’s so cringe right now […]”
Some fans branded the bleached hair as “abuse” and blamed it for Jojo being “the way she is”. Another critic fumed: “And that’s why her hair looks like straw now, you can see how it ruined her hair, it’s so sad! Children are not dolls, they sell very lifelike dolls if you want a doll,” then urged people to “get a doll not a child”.
Someone else chimed in with a comment about Jessalyn: “[To be honest] her mom is amazing, she is actually a sweet woman.” Siwa’s signature look throughout her younger years were her long, bleach blonde locks wore in a slick ponytail high on her head, often adorned with a huge glitzy bow in bright neon colours.
