Jonnie Irwin had fans rallying round after he issued a health update from hospital – revealing he “heading slept in six nights.”
The former A Place In The Sun star, 50, was given just six months to live in 2020 when he was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. The cancer then spread to his brain, and almost two and a half years later he publicly shared his diagnosis in December 2022
Since then, Jonnie has been making as many memories as he can with his family including wife Jessica Holmes. The couple also share three children, Rex, four, and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac.

But on Thursday (January 25) Jonnie issued an update to fans – revealing he hasn’t been able to sleep for six days. Taking to his Instagram, he uploaded a selfie taken from hospital.
Jonnie was at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital for a full MRI scan. He wrote in the caption: “This is the look of a man who’s not slept for 6 nights and awaiting a full body MRI scan of at least an hour.
“If you haven’t had one they’re claustrophobic and claustrophobic and omit loud random noises. Joy. Take note on attempt of a jaunty not on my gown! I’m expecting to come out to news of India all out 195!”
Fans rushed to the comments section to send their support to the TV star. One person said: “All the positive thoughts in the world are coming your way.” Someone else added: “You’ve got this Jonnie.” A third quipped: “Just focus on the belly and breath. Sending love and healing.”
It comes after Jonnie explained that his “positive attitude” has helped him through his cancer ordeal, whilst a “mixture of things” had contributed to him outliving his initial life expectancy period.

Appearing as How to Starve Cancer author Jane McLelland’s first guest on her Conversations podcast, he said: “At the very least you’re giving people hope. And as a patient that can add weeks and months. This positive attitude buys you days, buys you weeks and buys you moments with people like [my kids].”
He continued: “One of the reasons I think I’m still here is I’m not a cancer patient. It’s always there at the back of your mind but I’m living with cancer, not dying with cancer. Every time I talk about how strong I feel, I end up in hospital the next day, so I’m not gonna curse it [though].”
